Has anyone noticed that recently, this, of course, meaning a few months back, that TLC came out with the "Green Channel"? While the awareness that the channel gives is great, I find the channel itself slightly, if not greatly redundant. I think that true "green" practitioners would find other motives of awareness, rather than using up the beloved energy that they so strive to conserve. And from what I have come to believe, as lovely as the "Green Channel" is, I find myself in doubt about it's whole purpose.
When the world is in such dire need to save money, and with the perk of saving the environment, shouldn't people pitch in to help out? This, I have found out does not apply where I live, or at least with who I live with. My step-father, who has recently discovered the above mentioned channel is somewhat of a hypocrite when it comes to this. I live in the country, so we have a shop in our yard he goes to work on cars. Sadly, though, when he leaves our house, to go work, he leaves our TV in the living room on. The TV that I speak of is not small, it is, instead rather large, therefore (DING DING DING!), more electricity. And, as I'm sure you saw this coming, he leaves it on the "Green Channel" all day long. Do you see the hypocrisy? Yet, when he comes in to watch the said channel, he dotes on all the green innovations presented to the audience. My mother and I have a theory, though, maybe he thinks that if he leaves it on the "Green Channel" all day, we'll save electricity! Doubtful; I just think he's stupid.
I understand, this blog may make no since at all, but I'm sure people can relate to the problem at hand. And while this is only one person who abuse what he sees, whose not to say that there are more. I'm sure there are, as you all know, but I'm shouldn't judge. Or maybe I should...
