Vegan.

A vegan, as described by the dictionary, is a person who does not consume or use animal products or anything that might contain animal products. This includes meat, seafood, poultry, eggs, dairy products, honey, leather, wool, fur, and silk. Human do not need animal by-products to survive, they are an unhealthy additive to a diet and generally cause a large variety of health issues. Eating flesh, to me, is foul and it is murder. Because humans are at the top of the food pyramid does not give us the right to play god with another creature's existence or life. It especially does not give us the right to cause immense suffering.

Why not eat your dog or cat if you consume other animals?
Why not skin your dog or cat and wear it's pelt if you wear leather or fur?

To me, there is no difference. Animals are companions, not pets, food, or property.

I became vegan after five years of vegetarianism. What caused me to switch was the discovery of the cruel and inhumane practices of factory farms and slaughterhouses. Being a vegetarian was easy for me, I never enjoyed eating meat, so it was simple to cut it out of my diet. However, when researching a project for school, I immersed myself in knowing everything there was and is to know about our food industry, and more specifically, the meat, poultry, and dairy industries. Illegal practices and cruelty run amok in these factory farms and slaughterhouses due to lax government regulation. I made the switch immediately.

One might ask why a vegan does not consume dairy products. Supporting the dairy industry supports the veal industry, a despicable practice that many might not be aware of. The egg industry, while disgusting in itself, supports the poultry farms which fuel fast food restaurants, another abomination of this country.

Protecting animals from having their skin stolen, their babies taken away, their flesh eaten, and their bodies being used as testing grounds for our favorite shampoo should be a priority for anyone who believes in compassion over killing.

I am not asking you to make the switch, only to educate yourself about what you are putting into your body.

I live in a freegan household and the majority of meat we eat is roadkill. We feel that since car culture exists (unfortunately,) and the animals are already dead, we might as well not let them go to waste. Also, since lots of birds get killed trying to eat roadkill, by picking it up and eating it, we are saving lives.

So I'm just curious how you feel about that?

Love tya,

Well, all meat is unappealing to me, but I do support people who choose freegan lifestyles. So I am all right with you eating roadkill, and I don't oppose it, since you're not supporting factory farming and similar industries.

If I missed about 6 meals (3 days) the cat would be on the menu.
