My Excitement Just Keeps Growing!

Just 58 days until I move onto the UMM campus and live on my own for the first time of my life. I am extremely excited but part of me is also quite scared. The idea of living away from my mom and dad for more than a few days at a time makes me realize that I am growing up. Right now I'm in the real world, I just still live at home and only have a car payment. I just wish my boyfriend, Scott, had graduated too. Instead he is a year behind me in school so I feel a bit alone in all this!
At least I am moving in with one of my closest friends. I just hope sharing a dorm won't destroy our friendship like it does so many others...
I cannot wait to start my business courses. I graduated from High School with close to a 100 in my Business Management class so hopefully I am as good at the college with my grades as I was in High School.

Life has been kind of crazy lately. I got a text yesterday morning at 7 am from Scott telling me he was working a mile down the road from my house. Which made me amazingly happy but also confused because where he works NEVER comes my way. So I brought him lunch, got a sunburn, and got my first ride in a dump truck! I had an overall amazing day. Then I went to work and it just got even weirder.

If anyone has any ideas on what to get a guy for his birthday- please let me know. I am horrible at gift giving, I can never seem to find the right gift and I have a birthday coming up soon so I need ideas!

I think I'll leave it at that for now! I hope you enjoy my first blog entry!

I enjoyed your first blog entry. Welcome. Congratulations on your outstanding performance in high school and I do hope you do well in college. Since you are going to be living on campus you may be tempted to drink alcohol for social reasons. DON'T! I'm serious; do not take as much as one sip of alcohol. If you would like me to list the reasons why you should avoid consuming alcohol I will be more than happy to, but for now I'll just tell you that nothing positive can come from alcohol. Help break the (fortunately well deserved) stereotype of college students as irresponsible party animals. I can't do it alone!
As for the gift for your boyfriend, I am horrible at gift selection myself but I’ll throw a few suggestions out there. You could get him a magazine subscription to whatever he’s interested in. There are more magazines than you could imagine, just visit magazines.com top see. Be careful though because many of the other magazine websites are scams and this is evident if their prices are too low. A DVD set of a season of his favorite TV show could make a nice gift. I’d recommend amazon.com or buy.com for good prices on TV DVDs as well as movies. Finally how about music? iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody, and Amazon all offer high quality (though still compressed) DRM free mp3 (AAC on iTunes) music downloads. You could make him a CD with songs you know he likes. I’ll post back if I think of other things but that’s all my feeble (at least when it comes to gifts) mind can conjure up right now
