First of many blogs to make you think.

You are all invited to enter the mind of Vincent Martinez. This blog signifies my official inception into the world of opinion blogging. I aspire to become an icon known to be thoughtful, inspiring, and reasonable. Although I do not anticipate receiving wildly welcoming and appreciative responses for all issues and opinions, I do hope to help others question and challenge what they have continuously been told. In fact, my goal is to reach all persons from all places who truly believe in freedom; no matter their race, religion, gender, class, sexual orientation, or political status. If I somehow do get a hold of a hand full of readers I will consider my ambition fulfilled because knowledge is contagious and, in my opinion, the cure for ignorance.

Before I begin to blow your minds, I think it would be much more courteous if I started by introducing myself and where I may stand. I am a proud Hispanic born in San Jose, CA, but raised in San Antonio, TX. I was brought up by a single disabled mother inflicted with Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid arthritis, and fibromyalgia which she refuses to let keep her down. Most of my life I remember always having to live with a relative or friend of my mother’s; we never really had a home for ourselves. The most notable aspect of my being is that I am an apparent “thinker” notorious for thoughtfully drifting off into space to ultimately unveil some realization of the world and its mysteries. Apart from this article, I am known to be a considerably private person when it comes to my personal life. On the other hand, I love to get the fire roaring when it comes to politics or controversial issues.

In the wide political spectrum, I would greatly consider my philosophy to identify me as an objective libertarian. With respect to the constitution, I regard freedom as the highest essential value that this country has to offer. The role of government has increasingly surpassed its intended limit of power, both socially and fiscally. At the expense of its taxpayers, this country has forgotten the meaning of capitalism and how it IS the most effective economic system. This idea of an interventionist government, due to special interest groups, has not only bankrupted the country, but has left every citizen of the United States with the bill! So I hope to inspire people to stand up for their freedoms, even with civil disobedience, and do what is right to keep America the land of the free!

Now, freedom is not only intended for economic purposes. This is where I may lose people from the right. Freedom is also an advocate for social issues. I fully believe in the notion that all persons are equal. Individualism exceedingly influences my philosophy. Every person has their right to life, liberty, property, and pursuit of happiness without any interference from neither external nor internal forces. The government was established to protect these freedoms, not to regulate them. No social issue should be permitted to be legislated.

Okay, this is another point in which I may lose more people, but truly hope that people can see beyond differences, and show understanding and tolerance. I am an atheist. “GASP”! Well now that we got that out of our systems we can move on. Believe me; I completely respect those of all faiths. I was raised in a catholic environment, and absolutely believed in the teachings of the church for all of my childhood life. There was no traumatic experience or feeling of deception that lead me to alter my spiritual credence. It was solely my extra time to think and rationalize everything that I was taught. If God gave us a brain to rationalize, then I don’t think he would mind if we really put it to the test. Besides “blind faith is an ironic gift to give to the creator of human intelligence”. I sincerely don’t intend on disrespecting anyone of faith; that said, I also don’t appreciate those who would like to push their faith on me.

If you’ve made it this far into the article, you have survived my introductory blog. This is the first of many, many thoughtful topics to come. So join me in my fight for freedom, and never let anyone try to inhibit those rights that are rightfully yours. Finally, I hope that no matter whom my readers may be that we can all agree that we love this land, and recognize the beauty, passion, and uniqueness this country has to offer the world.

If you remain so reasonable it may hinder your readership. Unremitting controversy seems to bring the most audience participation around here.

"It is only by risking our persons from one hour to another that we live at all. And often enough our faith beforehand in an uncertified result is the only thing that makes the result come true."

There are more people like you on this site than you might think, and I might also say that the more "reasonable" of these tend to stick around a lot longer than the average wanderer.

That's not to say you won't run into opposition, and "faith pushers," etc. because you will. Its all good though, i think of this site as my form of playing chess. Its stimulating, challenging and fun.

I look forward to reading your thoughts in the future, but you'll have to try a little harder than you did here if you want to be "original" or blow any minds. There are some pretty intelligent minds here :). Have fun!

"O, I'm sorry you took that, -I meant that for the Devil, and you have stepped in and taken the blow. Don't get between me and the Devil, brother, and the you won't get hurt." --Billy Hibbard
