In times of uncertainty, work hard!

I was once told that Opportunity favors the Prepared. I never got the meaning of this saying when I first heard it. Now more than ever I understand it and I would like to share it with you. It goes without saying things are not going too well in the global economy. Jobs are being lost, cut-backs are rife and it seems like confidence it is at it's lowest ebb. But ave you ever considered the fact that there may still be people benefiting even through the financial storm? By benefiting I do not mean people who benefit in any sinister way (although they do exist and tis will be discussed later), rather people who have not been caught up in the negativity but have sought the positives in the situation, resulting in their success. As a college senior I am anxious about the future and what it holds for me, looking at my peers who recently graduated I distinctly remember feeling an air of apprehension over jobs, and their future in general. Something that is common in our nature I would say! But who is to say this should be the be all and end all of our hopes and dreams. I have learn t that life never really goes in the straight line we may imagine. More often than not we are reacting to something that happens, rather than completely planning out and executing a plan. Crisis breeds opportunity and the truth is not everyone sees it. Most people will spend their time complaining and pointing out what is wrong and what needs to happen. There are those who see beyond the short-sightedness of their peers and grab the opportunity. I hope to be one of those people, and I hope this helps you to do so too.

Times like today with such economic uncertainty make for a lot of nervousness, but that can be good. Times like now mean that we must be more resourceful. As someone seeking to enter the job market, I must distinguish myself without deceiving and I must build the strongest possible case for myself. In this case crisis has led to individuals making an extra effort to improve themselves, now how bad is that? They say opportunity favors the prepared. Sometimes you must seek to prepare yourself for the future you envision before you can see it. This may be, taing classes, learning a language, networking, writing thank you notes or anything else at all that will help you fulfill your dream. Just because there is no doorway in front of you doesn't mean you shouldn't walk down the hallway and seek it!

Always be ready, for you never know wen you time will be, it might as well be now!

Every problem is an opportunity.

"There is but one indefectibly certain truth, and that is the truth that pyrrhonistic scepticism itself leaves standing, — the truth that the present phenomenon of consciousness exists."
