Junk food, fast food and all the stuff that comes in cans and boxes.

So as an American it is our right to make our own decisions and decide what is best for our families. But, lets face it the majority of America is ignorant and worse of all believes what someone else tells them or even the box that contains the product, made by the manufacture, that make millions for selling you poison. Today my focus is specifically on the food that we choose to put in our bodies. I commonly here the claim that, "well I get Jack in the Box or Burger King or McDonalds because its cheap and easy." Well lets think about this statement so the next time someone makes this claim they too stop and really think about whether its cheap and easy or if they are just making excuses.

According to ASD & CDC Research Statistics On Obesity In The United States, in 1962, research statistics showed that the percentage of obesity in America’s population was at 13%. By 1980 it has risen to 15% -- by 1994 to 23% -- and by the year 2000 the obesity progression in America had reached an unprecedented 31%!

The U.S. Surgeon General report declared that obesity is responsible for 300,000 deaths every year. These overwhelming research statistics reveal an alarming obesity trend, the need for diagnosis, and a call to action.

In the midst of an informational and research feeding frenzy on the obesity epidemic, statistics are easy to come by. The most widely disseminated CDC research statistics on American obesity tell us that 63% of adult Americans have a Body Mass Index (BMI) in excess of 25.0 and are therefore overweight; more than a quarter surpass 30.0, having been declared obese. And perhaps the most riveting statistics concern obesity in kids: research shows that childhood obesity has more than tripled over the past two decades.

Now I found this kind of information very alarming and when I think about all of the health risks associated with obesity, I think of hospital bills, future visits to a nutritionist, etc... I don't know if any of you have ever gone to the emergency room or anything but just one trip can cost over $2,000. So, I will get to my point because it won't be just one trip it will be multiple and when making that decision to eat that quarter whooper with cheese; are you willing to put a price on your life? Because in the long run, its not cheaper to eat all that processed food and parents that choose to feed their kids that junk. There are a lot of illusions out there that make us think that we are getting the better deal or keeping us in our places in society.

Just a side note: I feel that a parent should have CPS called on them if they are making their children obese because it is abuse. I doesn't make sense if we call CPS for verbal, physical and mental abuse but we fail to notice when a parent is basically poisoning their kids. They are not giving their children a choice, they are in fact harming them and taking away vital nutrition that is essential for growth and development. Why is it, that we are so scared to say something? Why is it okay to look the other way? Have we given up or do we just care about ourselves? I am guilty of these things that I question you about but, I think that it is time to try to make things better.

You said I feel that a parent should have CPS called on them if they are making their children obese because it is abuse.

How do you know it is the parent causing the child's obesity and not one of many genetic disorders?

There are very few human beings who receive the truth, complete and staggering, by instant illumination. Most of them acquire it fragment by fragment, on a small scale, by successive developments, cellularly, like a laborious mosaic.~- Anais Nin
