I know many people will call me heartless. Many others will just stick with "Bitch". But I don't care. I am tired of hearing about other people and all of their problems.
It isn't that I don't have any feelings or I don't care about people who are legitimately in need. I am just tired of having to be politically correct and care about everything. For instance, I used to be as left as left could be when it came to politics. I used to go to rallies and protests and I used to fight for all of my beliefs. As I have gotten older and arguably wiser, I have started to lean more towards the middle and I even swing right on some issues. Not only have my beliefs changed, but my voice has changed. I no longer go to protests, and couldn't care less about rallies, and I just don't have the time to fight for issues. I am entirely too busy with reality to give a shit about politics. I care that my family is taken care of and that there is a warm meal on the table. I care about my friends and their happiness. I care about doing my job and doing it well. I really don't care that your home is going into foreclosure because you bit off more than you can chew. It isn't my problem that Chevy is going bankrupt because no one wants to buy their lousy cars. The least important thing to me is the fact that the new president smokes cigarettes. Seriously, who fucking cares? So what, he smokes. Is it really worth air time or news space for that?
It isn't just politics that I have grown apathetic to. I used to adore children. Now that I have my own, I don't like yours. I don't want to hear about the adorable thing little Joey did. I don't have time to hear your 2 year old count to 100. I don't want to waste time comparing your child to mine. I know mine is better, you know yours is better. Let's leave it at that. I also don't care that you only feed your child all-natural food and soy milk and you don't believe in discipline. I think you are an idiot, but that is your problem and not mine, so I don't care.
I am so tired of having to pretend that I care, so here it is: I DON'T CARE! Unless you have a serious concern or health problem, leave me out of it. Don't expect me to show up in support of your cause and certainly don't hold it against me when I don't. Live your life however you like, and please, let me enjoy mine.

I think a lot more people can empathize with your stance, even if they won't admit it.
Its true: sometimes I can't be bothered to worry about everything going on in the world because I have more immediate issues, such as statistics homework. I've stopped reading all the local papers my school library has to offer because I just don't have the time, or would rather relax. Even when I understand how these things will directly and indirectly affect me.
Like what you've read? Well, then here's more:

I second Misnomer and want to add that this is the best 'I don't care' blog I have ever read. Usually its people complaining about stuff I could careless about with terrible spelling and punctuation, You really pulled it off and managed to get me to think of a few things.
Although you don't care, thank you anyway!
PS I am so out of the loop I did not know the dear president started smoking ...AGAIN! Like this is news that will magically change his leadership skills (for the better or worse). Silly people really know how to focus on the real issues.
There are very few human beings who receive the truth, complete and staggering, by instant illumination. Most of them acquire it fragment by fragment, on a small scale, by successive developments, cellularly, like a laborious mosaic.~- Anais Nin
