This welcomed me this morning, China's Cyber Spies , and I can't help but think:
China, Where do you draw the line?
This is about Chinese government spying network and it encompasses a whole slew of countries, about 103 countries and their classified documents.
"TORONTO - A cyber spy network based mainly in China has tapped into classified documents from government and private organizations in 103 countries, including the computers of Tibetan exiles, Canadian researchers said Saturday."
I wonder what people think who do this, I mean I know some of them don't care about inalienable rights and free speech but their has to be some kind of soul inside and a conscience that tells them what is acceptable and what is not.
""We uncovered real-time evidence of malware that had penetrated Tibetan computer systems, extracting sensitive documents from the private office of the Dalai Lama," investigator Greg Walton said."
The whole system itself is so elaborate but for computer masters or network security individuals, it's pretty simple.
They hack into a computer by installing malware and the malware that leads back to a host computer that probably keeps track of all information from the computers that are being hacked.
"The IWM is composed of researchers from Ottawa-based think tank SecDev Group and the University of Toronto's Munk Centre for International Studies. The group's initial findings lead to a 10-month investigation that has been summarized in the report, "Tracking GhostNet: Investigating a Cyber Espionage Network." It will be released online Sunday."
"The researchers detected a cyber espionage network involving over 1,295 compromised computers from the ministries of foreign affairs of Iran, Bangladesh, Latvia, Indonesia, Philippines, Brunei, Barbados and Bhutan. They also discovered hacked systems in the embassies of India, South Korea, Indonesia, Romania, Cyprus, Malta, Thailand, Taiwan, Portugal, Germany and Pakistan."
Where is the end, sometimes people do want people to know about them but I am sure most of us like our sense of security and privacy. We don't want people to know exactly what is inside our head or what we are thinking at any given moment. We hold the rights and we are the ones who decide who gets to know what is and is not something that we like or do not like. Only certain people, whom we trust, should be allowed an insight into what goes on inside our heads and those people that we give this right to, they know who they are.
Or so I hope they know who they are for me.

Just goes to show that there's some pretty underhanded stuff going on in the world, and we can only really be aware of a small fraction. Pretty scary.
What I find interesting is how someone is hacking all this system. From what I have heard some one is using the install software on the beloved thumb drives that we all use to gain control and receive information. Of course the Chinese have calmed that it is not them and that it is against the law to hack into anyone else computer. The Chinese are blaming the Tibetan government in exile. I hope that the person or people behind this is caught and punished.

The malware that comes from your thumb drive isn't from the Chinese government- you're thinking of the Conficker worm. The worm has infected millions of computers already, but no one knows where it came from or who controls it. The scary part is it hasn't done anything- as if it's waiting for the opportune moment to STRIKE. Sorry, little over dramatic there. But both instances of hacking goes to demonstrate the spread of cyber crime. I really think the Internet is going to become a lawless, Wild West frontier.
As for Asmaw's question of where China draws the line, it doesn't. I'm not at all surprised by this. Still, there is no proof that the government is behind the hacking. There are many hackers in China known as "patriotic hackers" who, on their own initiative, engage in cyber crime against China's rivals (for example, the Pentagon endures cyber attacks daily from these people).
okay, thanks for the information and answering the question :]

My mistake, I mixed those two up for some reason thanks for the correction I would not like to misinform anyone.
