More good things to meditation upon

I'm in a very good mood today, mostly because I chose to start my day playing with two four-yr olds at the park, rather then hang around the house with a bitchy lover, but also because I discovered today that midwifery laws in Upstate New York have changed in favor of midwives recently!

So I thought I'd make another list of joyful things to meditate upon; as the world appears to be collapsing, there still are many things we can take joy in.

1) Midwifery laws in NYS now say you don't have to work under a physician, which means homebirth midwives, who where practicing underground, due to not being able to find a physician who would sign them onto their insurance, can now be above ground, without fear! What a cause for celebration! I'm more inclined then ever to move back to my home state, once done with school, to practice midwifery, because now I can practice safely, and transfer to hospital when need be without fear!

2) I wish I had twin four year old boys! (Well maybe not really, that would be very expensive and stressful at times.) Playing in the park this morning with Andrew and Aidan (I'm not sure of the spelling,) was like a little piece of heaven. Four-year olds say amazing things, and are, in general, amazing people. For example, on the way to the park, Andrew joyfully announced "When I'm a man, I'm gonna marry a girl..." He was skipping and licking boogers from his runny nose; it was really a cute, touching moment. At the park, both boys wanted to climb trees; we took turns in a poplar tree, testing our climbing abilities. Later, they showed off climbing the back of a batting cage; both are like monkeys and I wasn't worried at all about their safety, so I let them go for it. I also love the truth and wildness of four-yr olds; how they aren't shy to pee anywhere, but they'll tease you about kissing someone and call it "yucky", how they'll laugh when you get the cold they had, and tell you they gave it to you on purpose, how they aren't shy about picking up dirty toys someone else left at the park and taking them home. How every play structure becomes a ship and how everyone has to get up on the play structure as fast as possible in order not to drown. I just love playing with kids that age! They take me into a world that I usually am not aware of.

3) Finding cougar tracks and scat in the Smith and Bybee Lakes Wildlife sanctuary was really amazing this weekend! I'm so glad the possibility of being devoured by a large cat of prey still exists in the world! What an amazing way to die, wouldn't you say?

4) Punk pizza parties are great places to be an anthropologist; I'm greatful to be excepted enough into this strange tribe in order to witness their rituals...these days, any party I go to I participate in sort of an anthropologist role, especially since I don't enjoy getting shitfaced anymore.

5) What could be nicer then cuddling in bed with someone who talks about telepathy with you in a totally serious way, and doesn't laugh at you for your wingnut beliefs? I love talking theories pressed up against a warm body (especially a certain male body that smells strongly of garlic and rabbit fur,) until we are both too exhausted to talk anymore...

6) Yum! Hide tanning! There are very few things in the world as sensual as an animal skin with fur on it!

7) Wacky Japanese noise music! I highly recommend a band called Acid Mother's Temple...sounds like a hippy band, I know, but seriously, it will make you feel as though you are being abducted by aliens....

8) Getting goose bumps turning someone else on.

I've been very busy with school and my new decision to be self-employed, well, on the side anyway.
