When Barack Obama launched his presidential campaign, he did it in Abraham Lincoln's hometown. When he arrived in Washington, he followed the train route Lincoln used in 1861. When he needed a Bible for his swearing-in, Obama picked Lincoln's.
Heck, even Obama's lunch on Inauguration Day was modeled after Lincoln's favorites, right down to the seafood stew.
Clearly, the 44th president wants Americans to know how much he admires the 16th.

Its weird to me that the President of the United States, who is so big on creating racial equality chooses Abraham Lincoln as his idol. Lets see what did Lincoln do?
Well... he freed slaves in a territory that did not legally belong to him, however ignored the rights of the slaves that were still inside the United States. Lincoln was a known raciest and the only reason he did what he did was to win a war, by causing a "negro rebellion" in the south... a war that was waged against a people who, once again, had the legal right to succeed. Yes Lincoln has been played in the history books as the guy who was for equality, but that’s because he won the war. The facts are clear, NO prominent southern general had slaves... however, nearly every northern general had them, somehow that got left out of the history books. He caused the deaths of MANY Americans, and it was all for nothing in the end; the deaths end in vain no matter what is said.
There is no doubt that if Lincoln was president today, he would have even lower approval ratings than Bush did upon exit, lower than Jimmy Carter, and any other president that had low exit polls. I like Obama, and I think he will be doing great things for our country. Its great to see someone in the big seat who understands technology, and who will be moving this country in great strides... But I sure hope that he doesn't model himself after Lincoln, because honestly I would prefer my president to not be a racist and to follow the constitution... and NOT follow the steps of Lincoln.
