I’m not sure if anyone heard about this, but a man was shot and killed for no apparent reason by a Transit police officer in California. You can actually watch a very clear video that shows absolutely no reason why he was shot-- even the other two police officers seemed stunned, not sure what to do over what just happened.
I just wanted to point this out because if you listen to the noise, you may hear about riots occurring California, but the reason for these protests aren’t always given. It’s time that police brutality stops, no matter where it takes place and in what form, and things can’t change if you’re unaware. Mind you, I’m not indicting all police officers as power hungry, out of control jerks (in fact I have several loved ones that are police officers), but I also realize that cops are only people and they not every person has good intentions. By bringing this to the attention of a wider audience, that audience can’t say that they didn’t know about the problem.
Jordan King, an inmate, once said that he doesn’t sleep on the mattress provided for him because “it’s too comfortable and I don’t trust comfort in a place like this (prison) because it numbs you to the reality of where you really are and why”. I hope that by bringing up topics such as this, I might keep all of us from getting too comfortable when the world still needs so much work.
**Just wanted to add that his name was oscar grant, and I know i should have gotten all the facts before i posted, but i just felt like something had to be said. a couple other members have put stuff up as well. thanks.

You mention about a video...can you post the link,so that we all can watch it?

It always seems impossible until it is done-Nelson Mandela.
it was actually a boy, 11 years old I think. One cop had him on the ground, his knee in his spine close to his neck. Another officer shot him in the head, the bullet ricocheted to the ground and back into his head. The police officer with his knee on the kids back handcuffed the boy at that point.
The shooting officer got suspended with pay for a few days, and then took his retirement. It would be good to post a link to the story. I saw it, but I didn't bookmark it.
Yes, this is really happening!

That's the Story, I believe.

thanks, that's the correct link to the news story.
i guess I was wrong, the man is 22, not an 11 year old boy, my friend told me about it, and read the story to me because I didn't want to watch the video. I read the story you linked.

And yet there are foolish people who think that black men are not unfairly targeted by the police. The same thing has already happened in Houston and New Orleans this new year.
