I hope not to offend anyone on this site with this blog, but I have a strong opinion about food stamps and I feel the necessity to share it.
I am a high school student that works at a grocery store about four to five days a week, and I see a lot of bewildering events and people that stroll through the doors. Particularly, some of the customers with food stamps come through our lines attract some of my attention. Let me just make one point, I have absolutely no problem with food stamps when used in the correct way and for the correct reasons. I understand that people sometimes need a helping hand and some extra help.
But, what really bothers me is the way that I see some people abuse them. Sometimes I see customers with Prada sunglasses, a Gucci handbag, and some clearly expensive looking clothing. I think to myself, “wow.” Then, out of nowhere I see them whip out their food stamps. I think, “Hmmm, should she really be taking money away from the government and other unfortunate people when she clearly has enough to purchase such an expensive wardrobe and other accessories?”
I have absolutely no problem with food stamps as a whole. I just hate to see them being abused. I know that the majority of people do not advantage of it, but I just want to point out that it really irks me when I see the few people that do.
