I am almost sure this is my major. People probably are like aren't you a "sciencey person," well I "like" science, but my love and passion lies elsewhere, don't know too well about this but I think this is probably one of those things I can tell I will love with overwhelming passion but I'll probably soon be jaded so don't hate me then.
I even have the definition memorized.
My family calls me crazy that I remember random info about some of the most important people who who laid down the foundations for sociology.

I know one thing that I will love it and will thrive in it because these courses kept me sane at penn for a year and half and that is how I survived or I would've been a goner and failed even more courses if I took all sciences and shit. I remember clearly that when I registered for them, almost every single family member was like what the hell is sociology...I said you don't have to know about it, it is my passion, not yours :)
That should be my attitude in life over these things that will probably be of a great consequence.
There are things no one else should try to fudge with in lives that are not their own to live and this is one of them.

Well, I do and I wish to meet him, and attend at least one lecture of his in person.
While sociology is much diffrent than many other sciences it still falls under that category...at least in my eyes. Its a cool field that incorporates humanity of people and math and science. I considered that field because of my similar interest in people and my math skills but decided against it because for me it just was not right.

I perfer one on one interactions and a more hands on 'doing' type diverse field. I have many interests and small passions and I strongly believe that this sociology plus the other fields like prych criminal justice, math, culture, people etc are more incorporate in Nursing which is my career choice and current field of study. Nursing has a wide wide range of aspects that is sure to always have my interest.
It was nothins really negative towards the field, its just less perfect then the one I settled my heart on.

I do not think that being Muslim is another subset for being Black. African Americans have not ever been seen as a real threat to western culture except as propagated by extremists such as the KKK, who depicted black men specifically as rapists and murderers.
I am sad to admit this, but the perceived threat of black people has been based on a prejudice that they are animals, primitive, with no logic or self control.
On the other hand, being Muslim equates to being conniving, sneaky and malicious. Muslims are perceived to have an organized agenda of bringing western civilization down, where black people have been assumed to only serve their animal instincts.
The only relationship between the two is the one established by Malcolm X, the black man who stood for the taking of personal responsibility by the black man. That is a new relationship. It is very threatening to western society, especially since black people have reached a period of awakening and are strong enough and united enough to cause some serious disruption.
Genetically and anthropologically, middle easterners are considered to be "caucasian."
Please do not misunderstand me. These are not things that I believe in, only reflections of history and current events as they have been presented to me as a white woman.

What I Want...
I love sociology. It is the lens I am most often looking through to understand the world. It is such a powerful science. In fact I had a conversation with an atheistic inclined agnostic friend of mine regarding science and religion (again, I know, it will be my neverending conversation in this life,).
I was thinking while he was talking that when people argue that God cannot be proven scientifically they are ignoring the sciences of psychology and sociology. These are fields of science, and if one studies the history of the world through these two fields of study, it becomes impossible to not acknowledge the reality of God. Even if one does not physically exist, the constant theme in the human psyche and social experience makes God a defining and powerful force in humanity.
Anyway, I think this field of study suits you. It goes beyond understanding the physically tangible and obvious. It requires a keen and mature perspective.

this might be really vague but I want to see where I am taken or led by what hapens in life, the first goal is to graudate from college because I literally did screw up a year and half of my life out of just anger at the world and myself so I am not going to demand and hold myself upto that I HAVE to do this, I have to do what I am meant to do and right now I feel I will do well in sociology because I liked the topics and subject matter discussed.

and your perspective is perfectly appropriate. While you are not sure where your life will take you, you are also not sitting on your arse waiting for Allah to pluck you up and plant you where he wants you.
You are the doing the right thing for the right reason. Maybe that is why it didn't work out before. Who knows. Do what makes you feel good, and what gives you a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.
I really do see you as having something to do with politics, even if it isn't directly. I could see you doing anything from teaching to writing. I could see you being a journalist. Who knows. We shall see. In the mean time learn everything you can.
You have a unique gift to give the world. I have a sneaking suspicion you are being prepared and trained for something much bigger than you or I imagine.

I'm so glad you've come to a tentative decision, I thought about Sociology, and when I was it also lead me to consider History, Anthropology, and Political Science. I was just wondering if you considered those as well... though I'm DEFIANTLY not trying to sway you. :) best of everything, pray
