My Moon Child

In addition to communicating with animals, my child is a moon worshiper. I love to teach her new words. I enunciate and repeat a word while she studies my mouth and tries to copy the sounds. She loves to learn new words too. Recently I have her saying, "I'm ri-dic-you-ous." Anyway she learned the word "moon" over a year ago from my husband. It's cute because my husband says I am the one who teaches her things, and he is the one who plays with her. This was the first time she learned a new from daddy. Later she would learn to say "oh sheit," from him after he spilled his coffee.
So we were walking around the neighborhood one evening while the moon was full. My husband was holding her and he said, "Look, Elia, there's the moon!" pointing it out for her. She looked up and squealed, "Moon, oh moon." She started squirming in his arms and wriggled her way down to the ground. She stood up tall with her hands in the sky yelling, "Moon!" Then she proceeds to bow toward the ground, and come back up with her arms raised, still yelling, "Moon!" I was dumbfounded. My husband and I looked at each other confused, as she continued in her moon worship, bowing ten more times. The neighbors peeked out their window to see why their dogs were barking.
My husband picked her up and we went home, all the while the little monkey wailing and reaching for the moon. She still loves the moon. If it gets dark she immediately searches the sky until she finds it. If she doesn't find it, she gets a little scared. We found a little light box at the discovery store that projects the moon onto her ceiling. There is a lens that slowly covers the aperture, so she can watch the phases of the moon. This goes with us wherever we might spend the night away from home.

*giggles* I about died when I read the "oh sheit" part...it's frustrating, but ADORABLE at the same time when kids say bad words. : P

She sounds so cute! Seriously, I wish y'all lived in my area so I could babysit her! : P We have always loved the moon, too. My dad's from Italy, so he would say "Look! It's la bella luna!"
