In a week, there is Christmas; the birth of Christ Jesus and a new beginning or life for people who believe in him. But for us, mortals, it’s the end of another year and beginning of a new one- full of dreams, hopes and aspirations. This also includes drawing out a list on what is to be accomplished. Life is short and you need to live each day as your last. And people might not believe in analyzing their mistakes and learning from them. Hedonistic as sometimes they are referred as. This ain’t entirely true because everybody has a right to live their lives on their own terms. And they can’t be branded according to what we think is suitable.
I am a kind of person who introspects a lot, so it shouldn’t come across as a surprise that I ended up going over events over the past 12months that made a mark in my life and that were worth being recorded in my diary. Let me write it month wise.
January: It’s better to prioritize what is important and what you tend to do with your life. This included keeping a close watch over a guy, who happened to be extremely good looking
February: This month included charting out strategies to make the guy in question realize how extremely unlucky he is not to have me. Including going out on double date during Valentine’s and dressing up extremely good.
March: Getting my brains on the track and burying myself under piles of books, so as to study and hopefully pass my exams.
April: HOLIDAYS! Relaxing and meeting friends and then in the end getting thoroughly bored and there was nothing else to do.
May: Making plans for going on a family vacation to this beautiful hill station and also on the way meeting high school best friends. Also visiting the place the place where I was brought up and bawling with poignant emotions
June: Birthday Month. This was a highly boring and distressing event. This month includes developing a huge summer crush and then tearfully getting over it. Then came the end of summer vacations. And also came my results, which were bad. That was a HUGE setback as I had studied way to hard.
July: Starting school a week late and getting thoroughly peeved with friends who didn’t live up to the expectations. A very stressful month.
August: Saying goodbye to the guy I had a crush on (month Jan), which wasn’t tearful as his friend who came in his place happened to be cite too. Running for a marathon and vowing never to run again.
September: Gearing up to make a documentary with a group of snotty friends, can’t help- class assignment. Ending up in a fiasco. Vowing never to talk to them.
October: Grieving for a good friend who left us (my group of friends) last year this month in a highly tragic way.
November: Learning to trust people and giving them a chance to prove themselves and in turn getting hurt again. Forgiving my mum and dad and then taking it back. Writing actively on ProgressiveU.
December: Chalking out plans for next year. Forgiving a friend and starting things all over again. Starting in a documentary. Developing a crush on an amazing guy. My fingers are still crossed for him.
PHEW!
So how will you remember your 2008?

Started Grad school and love it.
Began working more actively with my homeless addicts.
Traveled out of the country solo for the first time - an extremely empowering experience. :)
Forged some loving relationships with good people.
All in all, a good year. :)

I lost my grandmother, the biggest blow for my family since she had lived with us for the past 10 years. On to the good, my cousin got married 2 weeks afterward (it was planned in advance and none of us wanted to delay it)
We lost an essential person of our lives. We also gained a new family member, not that one could ever compare or replace anyone else.
