First day of school, 14,000 dollars, and Two Essays
Sept. 2008
Ah, so a lot has happened in three days. On Thursday, I went back to school. But what's more interesting is what happened the day before.
I'm at home watching TV, when the phone rings. The Caller ID says "Neumann College." Somewhat intrigued, I pick up the phone. We talk and to make a long story short, I found out I'm eligible to win $9,000 scholarship money, based solely on my GPA.
I was pretty shocked. I had won a scholarship without having to do anything at all, really. Ha! Take that FastWeb! …Just kidding. I <3 FastWeb
I told my grandparents about it and they didn't seem as excited as I was. My grandpa is still encouraging me to go to Ship. He's promoting it so much that I wouldn't be surprised if he secretly works for them. Actually, I'm exaggerating. That would surprise me.
Onto the first day of school.
I went back and saw all of my friends that I never bothered to hang out with in the summer and vice versa. That's the one good thing about school, catching up with everyone.
All my teachers seem laid back except for a couple. I guess you can't get all easy teachers. Speaking of hard teachers, I was already given an assignment of two essays over the weekend for a single subject. Two essays! TWO! One, I could understand…but TWO?! Why? I see no purpose.
But there is no use complaining. Writing papers isn't all that hard. I complain about them like it's my job, but when it actually comes to doing them it takes me about 15 minutes to throw something together.
But something else major happened. I was eating lunch today when the phone rings again! The caller ID says Chestnut Hill. Intrigued and scared, I pick up the phone and it's Chestnut Hill College in Philly. Long story short, they said I won $14,000 scholarship money for four years at their college. Once again, just based on my GPA, and SAT scores. At this point I'm flabbergasted. I go to tell my grandparents the good news, but once again they don't seem too excited.
could it be too good to be true?
It doesn't really matter, though. I'll probably check out Chestnut Hill and Neumann soon. You don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
That's about it except for one small thing. If you're looking for a new band to get into or just find yourself in a musical rut, I would highly suggest picking up Sigur Ros' new album Takk. I saw them on Friday at the Tower Theatre and it was the best concert I've ever been to. 10/10. Definitely check them out.

I saw them a little while ago at the Hollywood Bowl. I still like their first album better, though.
Good for you, BTW!

I adore Sigur Ros. I am jealous.
