So...as most of you heard, or are hearing for the first time. Good ol' Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich is in jail, along with his cheif of staff. Want to know what he did? He tried to sell Obama's senate seat. Also he cut off funding to Chicago's largest newspaper, the Chicago Tribune, for writing bad things about him. He also listed by name editors he wanted fired. There is a seventy six page indicment, for those who actually want to read posted online somewhere. The news stations say that it would have made Lincoln roll over in his grave.
Blagojevich isn't the only Illinois governor to get put in the slammer. The last govenor of Illinois is also in jail, George Ryan. He is currently petitioning the prison to let him out so that he can spend the holidays with his family. You did the crime, sir you pay the time. I think it's a load of crap..all of it.
Blagojevich wanted to run for president in 2016, and saying that giving himself the senate seat would give him a boost when he wanted to run. He has the lowest approval rating of any govenor of any state. I am suprised that anyone would vote for him. I would give him negative votes and pay him to drop out of the election. Here you go sir, a dollar, the most anyone should give your ---- for a campaign fund..good luck and you suck!
Oh and did anyone tell you that there is a jail in Illinois that is a nice one..it looks like a resort...furnished by ikea...I don't know where it is or what kind of people go there, but I know that it exists..

Isn't it said that I didn't know the Lt. Govenor or haven't even heard of him until yesterday..His name is Pat Quinn, and evidently he wasn't in on any of this...which to me is kind of suspicous.
Chicago was also bidding for the Olympics in 2016 and the IOC is supposed to decide who gets the games in 2016 in April of 2009, guess the govenor blew it by what he did..Thanks! I was really looking foward to seeing the olympics in chicago..
And the worst part of all of this the Illinois Consitituition says that the govenor has the power to pick a new sentator if something were to happen that one sentator couldn't finish out his term...so the power still resides with Rod...who has a trial sometime...
The Illinois assembly has been called in to session on Monday, we'll see then what is happening to the rest of this state....
I'm moving to Minnesota in January, and getting out of this corrupted state.
I bet Blagojevich knows about a huge amount of corruption in Illinois beyond what he has been indicted for. I wonder if Fitzgerald will offer him any sort of deal if he sings like a canary? I wonder if Blagojevich would live to testify or if he would find himself wearing concrete overboots at the bottom of Lake Michigan?
There is a certain corrupt Mayor that I would love to see take a fall.

Blago was so blatent in his crimes that he must have expected to get caught. The only reasons I can imagine for a person behaving in such a reckless manner would be that 1) they are stupid (which he is not), 2) they are insane (which is possible) or 3) they posess a "Get out of Jail Free Card".
There are only a couple of ways to get a "Get out of Jail Free Card":
1) You can have the goods on a sufficiently big fish that allows you to cut a deal with the prosecutor if you spill the beans. There are only a couple of fish that are bigger than a sitting Governor that Blago could reasonably be expected to know anything about. One is a prominent Mayor and one is the President Elect
or
2) You can have the goods on somebody in a position to issue a Presidential Pardon and threaten to spill the beans unless you get such a pardon.
It's beginning to look a lot like Fitzmas ...

If it makes you feel any better, the Hassayampa dorm at Arizona State University was furnished by Ikea. Trust me, it does not make them nice. It's a simple wood-frame bed with a thin mattress, and a table with a drawer in the middle that they like to call a desk. I'll bet the prison cells don't have desks. Really all that "furnished by Ikea" means is that the prison paid Ikea to mass produce some beds for them. It was probably really cheap. It's not like prisoners have plush carpet rooms with the circle bed and memory foam mattresses, with hipster-ish curtains and throw pillows.

I'm... not really sure how that tied in at all. I'm assuming, from your use of an ellipsis, and from pointing out that Obama is from Illinois, that you think Obama is lying, but I could be wrong since you didn't mention anything that would support that claim if it were being made.

I'm... not really sure how that tied in at all. I'm assuming, from your use of an ellipsis, and from pointing out that Obama is from Illinois, that you think Obama is lying, but I could be wrong since you didn't mention anything that would support that claim if it were being made.
...I doubt that anyone will seriously attempt to link this scandal to the President-Elect. After all, one of the recordings that is being circulated contains an expletive-filled rant by Blagojevich because he was pissed off that the only thing the Obama campaign would offer him in exchange for appointing Obama's suggested replacement (Valerie Jarrett) was "gratitude."

Doesn't that seem to suggest that the Obama Team knew that an auction was in progress? What are their responsibilities if they are aware such a conspiracy is taking place?
I bet this is not the first time that Blago has behaved in a totally corupt manner as it is part of a way of life in Illinois politics. I would be surprised if Blago did not know where a LOT of skeltons are buried. Blago and Obama are connect through their mutual political benefactor the indicted Tony Rezko.
It will be interesting to see what comes out. Blago might be motivated to sing. One thing we know is that US Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald seems to enjoy going after big fish including Presidents.
...you might have noticed that Obama and Blagojevich haven't been politically close since long before the start of the presidential campaign. There is also a bit of scuttlebut among the talking heads that suggests that it may have actually been someone in Obama's campaign that quitely tipped off the Feds about this situation. I'd be surprised if Obama's staff did not have some input into the choice of the person who was going to fill Obama's Senate Seat. Can you imagine that Hillary is not having some input into the selection of her replacement? I think it is unlikely in both cases.
The transcripts from the bust seem to strongly suggest that the Governor's staff was talking to Obama's staff. In fairness, the same transcripts also seemed to indicate that the Obama team was not willing to give Blago anything in return for having their preferred guy appointed. I even think it is possible that the Obama team were the ones that dropped the dime on Blago.
It also sounded like the SEIU (Service Employees International Union) was pretty involved in the transaction and was offering some bribes. I love to see a corrupt union official go down.
A guy named Axelrod from the Obama Team is on video a week or so ago suggesting that the Obama team was participating in the selection process. But now Obama's staff is saying that "Axlerod" mis-spoke".
What to believe?

It is a struggle. I know all of this, the thing is that people who do not support this "liberal" or "left leaning" movement, or whatever it is called, and its leaders, think that the rest of those who do, are uninformed idiots.
WEll-- We are not, quite the contrary- We are also human with the same kind of thoughts and experiences and troubles that the other side has. We also have the same financial troubles, and other troubles...deal with them ourselves. Get over it, accept it, learn from it and move on.
