"Shared Responsibility." What does it mean to have a shared responsibility?
I would think that it means that anyone who can do something, does it. This progressive principle emphasizes on the importance of the individual and encourages a person to do everything in their power.
Shared responsibility can be within your own home, caring for your loved ones. Because you live at home, you share the responsibility to help keep the home safe, clean, happy, and well stocked.
Shared responsibility can be within your community. As a member of that community, if you have the ability, then you have the responsibility to keep your community clean and prosperous. That can be as simple as throwing a cup away in a trash can instead of tossing it outside your car.
Shared responsibility can be within your country. If you feel strongly on an issue, you have the responsibility to do everything within your power to promote your stance on the issue. You have the responsibility to speak up and be active!
Ultimately, you have a shared responsibility in your world.
Some examples of how I have and will make a difference through my shared responsibility in my community:
In my home: In my home, I help clean house, fix lunch for my siblings, help with dinner, iron my dad's shirts, and sometimes teach my siblings (we're homeschooled).
In my community: In my community, I always do my duties assigned with pleasure. I helped out at church the other day. On Friday, I'm going to help at a Christmas party by the local crisis pregnancy center that helps poor families with children. I'm trying to organize some fundraisers for my youth group so that we can afford to attend a wholesome youth conference in the summer.
In my country: I'm learning about issues that are important to me (mainly abortion and other life issues). I plan on majoring in political science when I am in college and then I will go out and try to make the world a better place. In the meantime, I learn and I pray. I hope that those in difficult situations can make the choice of life.
How do you participate in your shared responsibility?
