Effective Society

Many changes if not most changes have not resulted from the federal, state, or local government changing the law, but from the society the government comes from. It is the society that decides to change their perspective and attitudes about a certain situation. It is the public that must change in order for a law to be altered, abolished, or created i.e. civil rights movement, suffrage movement, women’s rights, prohibition, the abolishment of the prohibition, and the entire Progressive Era is marked by social change that was rooted in society’s changed in view of the government’s role. It is these types of grassroots movements that has shaped and made our government. It was and still is society’s duty to shape and form an effective government.

I would say Better or Effective Society would be a better term for Effective Government.

The actual terminology of Effective Government perpetuates the idea that it is the government’s fault (like it a separate entity from the public) when naturally it is every single’s citizen’s fault that the law or way of life is not better or more effective. The terminology of Effective Government probably creates more indolence than progression.

If we choose to blame it on the public and individual then perhaps we may have a chance for change. If we intelligently look at society and uncover norms and invisible ideologies that encage us all then perhaps we can discover a more effective society; thus a more effective government.

The law doesn’t create the law. A society does.

At first I was going to yell about what appeared to be the equation of society to Government but you made the diffrence very clear and this makes me proud.

Did we 'talk' previously about this society's mantality creating the law or vice a versa?

We sure did have that "talk."

The "talk" inspired me to write this.
