This is not a happy blog about how I got a great deal on a 50’ HD TV. I was reading an article on CNSnews.com about how a man was trampled to death by eager shoppers. How screwed up are people? From what I read they ripped the door off its hinges and forced their way passed and even when the EMT where trying to work to save this man life people were still forcing their way passed them. I hope that every last one of those early shoppers get arrested and sent to jail. There is nothing I could ever want so much that would cause me to step on someone else to get it.
I hope that the deal they got was so worth it. Why did they not close the store down? They had a dead body lying in their entrance way and Wal-mart needs to stay open, Why? Is money that important? Have we lost all sense of morals or decency?
So did any of you get a good deal on Black Friday? I feel outraged at the stupidity of these people. Would it have killed them to wait till the door opened? I do not wish to make a hate filled blog but how can people do something like this?
I have worked retail before and I have worked on Black Friday it is the worst day of the year. Normally people have the curiosity to wait till the door open and then to wait to get in now yes there is a lot of pushing but not to the ground and not against medical people trying to do their job and save the life of someone that is dying.

This is unbelievable and ridiculous, I can not believe thst people think that material possessions are more important then a life. And why, WHY did Wal-mart not close this enterance?!
This is too upsetting to even discuss right now.

I thought WalMart did close that store until later that afternoon?
People disgust me sometimes. Fortunately, where I live, people weren't like that. Even the people waiting to check out for 45 minutes were pleasant to be around. Maybe I just went at the wrong time, to the wrong stores. I didn't even go near Walmart, and I browsed through Best Buy around noon because it was on my way home. The cheap monitors were gone. It was shocking. I bought a better one on Newegg.com later.
Since you asked, I did get a couple good deals. I went shopping around 9am, for things I actually needed. Like a knife set at Kohl's for $40 after a rebate, originally priced at $169. I helped 3 other people find the correct knife set, because the knives conveniently located and on display were similar to the ones in the ads, but not the same sets. My friend and I tried letting a Kohl's manager know, to, you know, save them the heartache of mature adults screaming at the person working at the register when they're told it's not the one on sale, but he didn't seem to care very much. So we wrote a note on cardboard with a map to the correct knives and left it on display with the wrong ones. We care about the Kohl's employees, even if the managers don't.
I tried getting new tires at Sears, but the ones on sale didn't fit my car so I decided to just find a new location after being quoted over $500 for what they did have available. I went inside the store and happened to find some $30 bras for $10 and bought a few of those instead. They are almost as good as new tires for my car.
I don't see the point of waiting overnight to be the first one to get some kind of cheap electronic device. It's stupid. And, apparently, tragic for some people. I don't know what disgusts me more--that a life was lost or that all people cared about after finding out was that they could still get their deals.

I went to some of the local shops. There were less crowds, the staff are really friendly, and I get unique gifts for people. Admittedly, I did spend a little more, but I also spent less time and stress so I think the trade off was worth it.
Like what you've read? Well, then here's more:

I completely agree with the blogs posted so far. Sadly enough though, the Walmart case was not the only fatality that day. In California at Toys "R" Us, of all places, two people were shot and killed in a fight over a toy.
How on earth have we become a such self-centered consumeristic society that one could justify taking a human life in effort to obtain a toy.
I don't think any gift, no matter the expression of joy it may bring, is worth such a terrible price. Apparently though, according to these story's, news not every agrees.
If it makes you feel any better, the 2 people who were shot weren't fighting over a toy. They weren't even inside the store. They had some kind of personal dispute and they just happened to decide to settle it outside of Toys R Us.

Listening to news radio for the small amount of time I was in the car today I heard about a shooting at Toys 'R Us over something similar. I think they linked it to some gang activity.
I remember the insanity around beanie baby happy meals. I was most struck by the fact that people were buying dozens of happy meals and dumping the food. Smart bums caught on quick.
And then there was Tickle Me Elmo and Furbies.
However, today I heard about a terrorist attack on the Taj Mahal Hotel in India by a radical Muslim group.
Which deserves my attention first? My head is spinning.

I finally read your comment about my blog about the Wal-Mart incident. I really meant what I said, I am trying to read more blogs now.
This blog was so passionate, very intense and true. I honestly felt the same way you did when I heard about it.
