New Years Resolutions are common around this time of year. It is important to refresh the mind and set new goals for the New Year. However, it is just as essentially important to recap this year’s first experiences and happenstances, the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Here are some of my first experiences and happenstances.
1. dropout of high school
2. returned to high school
3. worked full time
4. quit work

22. visited various mental institutions to see my best friend and family members
23. learned to deal with loneliness in a positive light
24. discovered some awesome bands
25. didn’t see my father once
Some of these experiences are frivolous and quite silly, but it is important to recognize many events even the humorous events that took place this year. Reviewing what has happened this year helped me feel more optimistic about the future and my ability to achieve my new goals. The list proves that this year has not been entirely in vain, but grounded with struggles, joys, misfortunes, and many gains. It reinforces my self- image, and it also displays situations I would like to change, like not seeing my father. It proves that I am not as boring as thought I was, and most importantly it gives me hope, the hope, goal-orientation, and confidence needed to achieve new goals and dreams in my future.
So would you be so brave to list some of your firsts this year?

contra dance? What is that?
i must say nice list.
i especially like the praying at abortiion mills. that must have been an experience, but how do you think the girls felt? did you have an impact?
It's line dancing. It's incredible! : D There are a bunch of moves that you repeat over and over and it's just incredible! You should look up some videos on YouTube, cause I don't really know how to explain it beyond that.
Thanks! : )
It was incredible. Watching the girls was so heartbreaking...one girl walked in with her hands over her ears crying. Others walked in crying. Pain and fear was on nearly every face. Across the street, I knew that only a few yards away, babies lives were being destroyed and I was powerless except for my prayers. It really helped me realize how small I am and how great God is, because we DID have an impact! FOUR women decided not to have an abortion that day! It was really moving!

that is truly incredible. it demostrates that these efforts are not in vain!!!
16, SAT scholarships? That is so good and amazing...have you gotten any results nack from those efforts? Will you be graduating soon? I guess so since you got into your college of choice.
If I remember correctly you have been homeschooled right? How do you think college will affect you and be diffrent from what you have already experienced.
On a side note I went to a christian college my first semester of college and let me tell you those people were crazier and got into more weird trouble then the people I had met at Grossmont community college.in San Diego.
Great list!

Christendom offers scholarships based on SAT scores starting at 1920. I got a 1970 last time I took it, but I'm shooting for at least a 2070 (next level) and I'm taking my SAT again in a week to try out for it. I'm graduating in May : )
Well, I think it'll be different to a certain extent. Christendom has about 50% homeschoolers, so I think it won't be too bad. I think the biggest challenge for me will be tests in class, because I'm used to taking my tests at my own sweet time and on the computer where I can use spell check. LOL
Haha, yeah...
Thanks!

Wow sounds like next year will be better.
Grandchildren? this caught me off guard because I consider 'emo' a new young people's slang thing, I guess you can add 'broke a stereotype' to your list. How many kids and grand babies do you have, age?
Good Luck!

I have 2 step-daughters ages 27 & 25 and a step-son who is almost 24. I have two boys of my own ages 13 and almost 10. My daughter is almost 12. I have two grandchildren a girl who is almost 4 and a boy who is 14 mos.
I had guardianship of my granddaughter from the age of 2 mos until she was almost three years.
The emo thing is a name my neice gave me because of my taste in music. I never did color my hair. I turned another year older and decided against it.

Wow, I am not going to post my list just yet since I have a terrible memory especially things for myself. I do have a few questions that I hope you can answer before I come back with a list.
Why did you drop out of school? What made you go back?
What reasons are your people in the mental hospital?
Why have you not seen your dad?
WHich author?
Pink, red and orange! at the same time?
I understand that some of these answers are too personal and you do not have to answer just let us know. You can not drop little shells like that and expect us (mainly me) to not be curious/nosey.
Great blogging/discussion idea.

I dropout for very stupid reasons. I couldn't stand my high school anymore, and i refused to take part in any of the classes. i like to say that i had a huge re-entry shock. I thought i could perhaps get a GED and be done with high school faster.
i went back when i returned home from a long trip. during this trip i attend the local high school for two weeks.( in this country i learned that without education you will be bound to a particular lifestyle. There i gained knowledge, insight and the motivation to continue my high school education and receive a diploma.
lets just say i grew up.
my best friend and brother were both in the hospital for mental disorders. my friend is bipolar and my brother has an undiagnosis problem ( but is being treated)
i haven't seen my father simply because he lives far away and it is difficult for him to take off from work.
It has just been the longest period i have gone without seeing him.
Gundmann, he is a german best seller author in traveling books in the USA, Spain, and Iberia. he knows more about America than I do.
I dyed my hair orange with fat bright pink highlights, but i have also just dyed my hair red and orange. Right now my hair is just orange.

I absolutely adore Express jeans and for twenty dollars!!! : )
It sounds like you matured this year.
hope college will suit you this time.
but I have this nagging feeling that I sabotage my studies because I don't want to study in the major I picked...ah...but again I am being shown the way and am following, and the feeling is there that I won't put my 100 percent in it.
I'm going to do my best and the rest is que sera sera...
