Thanksgiving is a day to celebrate life and every blessing that we have. I know we may all have something happening in our lives that may be stressful, heavy on our hearts and minds, and pending, but be thankful for the smallest of things. We may be sad by one of our loved ones being away, being sick or lost to death. Nevertheless, we should be thankful for the time that we had with them and the ability to be thankful for everything everyday, but especially the ability to celebrate it today.
I thank God for blessing me with life. We take for granted the ability to blink on our own, breathe without machines, walk, talk, stand, sit, hold hands, hug a person, speak, hear, feel, touch, smell or think. It may seem small, but it is among the many blessings that we have and reasons for thankfullness. I thank God for family, friends and enemies. Each has its blessings and challenges, but each has taught me lessons about myself and given me strength about going ahead.
I thank our troops for their service at home and abroad. I thank them for being away from the people they love today and sharing today with their military families wherever they may be. Their sacrifice is never lost whether we are at war or at peace. I pray for the families of each soldier that gets to go home for the holidays, for the ones that lost their loved ones in war, and for the ones that are serving this very moment. We thank you.
I thank God for the tireless caregivers that sacrifice their own lives to take care of others. They sacrifice their own health, sleep and well-being to ensure that they give the best care possible and the most love they can share. They are tireless and filled with desire to give as much support and help as they can for the person they care for. These caregivers could be parents, siblings, spouses, significant others, nurses, doctors, and children. I thank you for your unyielding service.
I thank my family and friends for their presence. I have lost family and friends over the years and each holiday is difficult without them. But, I trust that God has made a place for each of them in his many mansions and that the time we shared was filled with great memories and years of laughter. I thank God for each moment with my current family and friends. I pray for them and I thank God for them today.
I thank God for my enemies. Enemies exist in the middle of it all. They are among family, friends, co-workers, associates, and classmates. They test the very fabric of your being, but also challenge you to do better and be better. We wish they would not exist, but we live in reality and know that they do. God will make a way somehow and I trust that with each enemy God will bless them as well.
I thank God for today. It is a new day. It is a new chance for new beginnings and renewed strength. I thank God for giving me a chance to share another day with the people I love, those nearby and far away. I thank God for today because today is always uncertain until it gets here and here I am. I thank God for his protection, his mercy, his grace, his favor, his ability to hear my prayer and the answers to my prayers.
I pray for you today and thank God for you. You are a blessing to me. Happy Thanksgiving! God Bless You!
