Scandals make the world go round.

For those of us living in NY, we know about the whole Elliot Spitzer case. I am, however, going to go further back then this. Let's rewind to the late 1990's. Bill Clinton was president, our economy was looking up, people had jobs. He was doing his job, or should I say someone was doing the job. Then BAM, press release he was given 'sexual acts' in the oval office. The nation in horror, complete shock. To an extent I understand this. He is a married man, he has a child with his wife yet he is looking to be pleased else where. Is this nation that naive? That in the dark about sexual things? Is this is so hard to fathom? This kind of thing happens daily I am pretty sure. We as a nation turn a blind eye until it is someone in the spot light. I realize the president should be a stand up kind of person, but lets break it down. He is a man (no I am not saying all men are sexually obsessed) it is a drive. Was he getting what he needed from his wife? Who knows. In the end his wife stayed with him when she could have easily kicked him to the curb. Maybe they had an agreement within their own relationship that his was ok. So if she could forgive the man why can't the nation?
Now to the more recent example. Elliot Spitzer the governor of NY change was going to happen and not only in New York City but upstate as well. He was an amazing attorney general. He had the potential of becoming an amazing governor. BAM press release Spitzer found to have exchanged money for sex. Yes I completely understand prostitution is illegal in NY. Never did he use money from his position he used his own personal money. Why is it our business if he is buying a private jet or a night of excitement? Was his job still being done? Was his focus still our children? Our future as a state? I often wonder why? Whether it be NY, or DC, again a blind eye is turned. Do people seriously think that this doesn't happen at those high priced call girl agencies? They will say 'oh no these girls are escorts, beautiful girls who will accompany you to a dinner, the theatre, whatever it may be." Sure, I am sure some are but you have got to be kidding me if you are that completely blind. The break down comes to older man with a lot of money, young naive girl looking to make a buck. One or the other initiates one thing leads to another and he compensates her for her time. If anyone paid attention to the DC Madam case you would have seen right through it. She had repeat customers which in some cases I will go out on a limb and say were just someone to go to dinner with. I will also take the chance and say some of whom knew what was in store and they just got good about covering it up. So yes she didn't want her records released of who her customers were. Well that I can understand because, yet again, we would have a nation in horror. I really didn't follow the case wholeheartedly so I don't know how it all turned out if the names were released to the public or not. Maybe some were and I just missed it.

The issue I have with all this is, these men were taken out of their positions publicly, their life laid out. Do people think when you run for office they lose all flaws? Why are they perceived as super human? Someone who bleeds gold and can save us if the earth so chooses to disintegrate around us. These men were in line to make huge changes, working hard to make good things happen for our country or more locally, our state. But because of their choices behind closed doors they no longer are able to.

offensive case of a scandal blocking out an actual issue is John Edwards. Do not get me wrong I don't condone his behavior. But he was the strongest voice against poverty in the race in 2008, and his sex life blocked out the bigger issues.

i can not stand the public leeching off sexual cases such as this. in countries like Germany it would never make the news.

lets focus on real issues besides sordid Hollywood celeb stories.

we are still a baby compared to other countries. and we are still stuck in the beginning adolescent stage.
