Why I should be selected for a scholarship.

Why I should be selected for a scholarship.
I have chosen to pursue an Associates Degree in Business Admin Credit. By obtaining a degree in this field, it will allow me the opportunity to advance in my current field of employment and raise my source of income.
I graduated High School in 1992, which is the only education I currently have. I am both a returning adult as well as a single parent with two children. I have never been married and have always raised my children on my own. My primary source of income is my wages and am the sole provider for my family. I receive no government assistance and after paying all my monthly bills, I am living paycheck to paycheck.
I understand the importance of post high school education and truly wish that I would have taken steps to pursue my education upon graduation from high school. However, I was a single mother with a one (1) year old son at that time. At that point in my life, I lived in the present and didn’t plan on my future. My primary concerns were paying for rent, utilities, child care and putting food on the table. At the age of twenty-one (21), I had my second son.
I have always been a hard worker. I take pride in what I have accomplished. I had enough foresight to continually build upon my employment experience, enabling myself to eventually advance from McDonalds to Wisconsin Public Service. I am proud to say that I recently purchased a little home for my children and me.
I stress to my sons daily the importance of continuing an education beyond high school, and with this said … I realized that not only my sons, but that I too, need to take heed to my suggestions. I believe in leading by example … and what better way to further stress continuing an education, than by doing so myself?
My dream is to be financially stable. I hope to one day have the ability to help my children attend college; contribute monies to help cover their wedding fees, and to assist them with a down payment for their first home. I would love to take my children on a vacation.

I am glad to know there are other responsible parents out there. I am glad that you see the connection between pursuing your dreams and enabling your children to one day pursue theirs. I hope to be in a position soon to give people like you scholarships.

Congratulations!! You have decided what you want to do in you're life...You're determined and a have a set goal. Kudos for you.... I bet a lot of people feel the same way as you do
What i mean is... a lot members of progressive u believe that they do deserve to win the scholarship...
Well, heck...I am one of them...the economy is bad...everybody (everywhere) is suffering....
Today, I just learned that I'm not going to be eligible for a scholarship and they didn't even inform me about the rule of being a local (meaning even though you're U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident you still can't be eligible due to not having at least 25% Marianas blood in you)
Basically, it was discouraging because they didn't include that part in the flier and information document...I mean, i got all the paper work done yet every time I try to submit it there is something wrong..

Enough about that.... What I'm trying to say is just by doing this (blogging and hoping to win) is enough to prove that you do want what's the best for you instead of doing drugs and what not.
Anyways, if people are trying to pull you down, don't give up because if you do you'll just end up regretting it and ruining yourself... lots of people learn it the hard way... (Obviously, I've seen a lot of television...);;)

Oh yeah... if you would like to look at some of the blogs I did, I wrote about tobacco & alcohol (DEADLY "Persuasion"), time (Time..."), autistic spectrum disorder (Autism according to a former governor..."), and another blog about autism (3 Areas of a Child's Development Affected by Autism"). Lastly, I wrote about Sexism in music (Sexism in the Music industry") and invasion of privacy ( Are they...GAY?! (Sex, blackmail, & Laud Humphrey) ")

Wow, that's pretty awesome. Not a whole lot of people have the guts to even try to go back to school. My dad's the opposite, though...he has a TON of education and we're still living pay check to pay check. : P Business Administration sounds like fun : ) BTW, those boys are lucky to have someone with such strength and character as their mom ; )

It's always a great thing to see people go back to school to better themselves. I hope all goes well.

You sound like you've really got it together! Your life experiences should make for some interesting progressive blogs.

I just want to clarify some things, though, as the title of blog leads me to believe that you might be expecting one blog to be enough to win the contest.

First, the contest runs for several months, and the blogger who has the highest point total through progressive blogs, commenting, and read points, wins the scholarship. Second, If you just joined ProU, you entered too late for this semester's contest, but you should definitely stick around and start building a readership base for the Spring contest!

Good luck, and welcome! I'm excited to read what you have to say!
