So at my school all the seniors have to do a senior research project to pass senior enlish. I chose the Victorian era because I love Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll. We also have to write about some historical events which I chose "Jack the Ripper" and the Irish Potato Famine. This is my opening paragraph and I think it needs some work. Read it and let me know if you have any suggestions please and thank you?
“Who in the world am I? Ah, that’s the great puzzle.” Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, known as Lewis Carroll, captured the fast paced time of the Victorian era in England. The 1800’s was a period in which the era was changing fast. The Industrial Revolution brought new machines to make production easier. Governments made “sugar-coated” the revolution: thus, authors began exposing the “underside of the manufacturing economy” (Person806). The hidden secrets of Industries and of the manufacturing economy gave inspiration the writers bringing hesitation to the people. This era was full of mystery and amazement unique from the others. The Victorian era was full of historical events that shaped it, its arts and ideas, and most of all, the greatest writers of all time, especially the work of Lewis Carroll.
