To this day it is still difficult for me to talk about this. As my family, many innocent children, other police officers, and friends have been stained by one man's actions. This man was my husband, my children's father, a co-worker, a brother, a son, a friend, as well as a police officer. Sworn to protect and to serve a community. Well this blog is to tell a story of a Police Officer that was charged with 12 felonies and the affects it has caused to many people, as I call them the victims.
I had been married to this man for 6 years, together for 7. We had 3 beautiful boys together which included a set of twins. He became a Police officer in 2006. During the last few months of his employment he had even because a chief in charge of the department. Quiet an accomplishment for only being an officer for 2 years. But he was dedicated to his job and his work. This officer had a hidden secret life that came to light in 2008. Where I had found out he was sexually involved with minors. I had told him I was going to turn him in. In which at that point he threatened me with my life. Took me another week to finally have the courage and strength to turn my own husband and father of my children into the nearby law enforcement agency so that he could answer for the crimes he had committed. I was devistated by the fact my husband was a predetor on young innocent girls. My heart truely went out to all those that he had hurt and harmed.
For a week my family had to remain in hiding till my husband could be arrested, as they needed to walk a fine line in making sure that the local law enforcement did everything by the book. Arresting a fellow cop for such an a horrifying crime had to be dealt with delicatly. If they arrested him before all evidence was collected could set a guilty man free, a predator back on the streets, and law suits against the accusers. Media took less that 24 hours to be all over it once I had turned him in and filed for an immediate protective order for me and the children.
The hearings lasted nearly 6 months. There were 3 victims that had come forward so far. Young as 13, 14, and 15. In the end he took a plea bargain for 9 years just last month. The 13 year old was a forcible rape. Many lives have been affected. The victims are still healing, including myself, my children, fellow officers, friends, and many more. During the last sentencing court date I was givin the opprotunity to speak. In which I got to speak my last words to my now ex husband about all the stains he has caused on so many people. Everyone still healing and picking up the pieces of one man's actions. Some may never fully recover.
