Giving Thanks This Holiday Season

My daughter has a typical November assignment for school. She has to make a booklet and each page says "I am thankful for..." While she was working on it last night I started thinking about the upcoming holiday season. We do not have an oven to cook with. We do not have relatives or friends that will invite us for dinner. There will be no money for presents when Christmas is here. Our county is cutting back on gift-giving for needy families. My husband is facing a possible jail sentence on December 11 for ticking off the police. Either he pays the chief's best friend $500 for a bill or he goes to jail. We are facing eviction again.
I have always been the joyous person during the holidays. I always find reasons to be thankful. So what is there to be thankful for this year? I suppose I should be thankful for the little things in life we take for granted until their gone. I am thankful every morning I am able to wake-up and face another day. I have two legs that enable me to run, dance and walk. I have two eyes for seeing all the glorious beauty in the world like the snow that has started to fall here and will soon be sparkling on the trees. I have to ears for hearing the wonderful music I love to listen too. I have three beautiful children. I am very thankful that my boys made the honor roll for the first time. My eldest almost made high honors. I am thankful that for the most part I am healthy. I am thankful for the opportunity to read the intelligent, thought-provoking blogs here.
I am thankful that I can change the course of my life for the positive and I can do so at any given moment if I am brave enough to tough out the hard times that come with change.
