This world that we live in hasn't changed. In the sense that people haven't. I'm really beginning to believe this.
I think that humans have the same problems of pride, greed, and selfishness, and that we aren't any better off, or much worse off than before.
No doubt that our technology has progressed, and kingdoms built and destroyed, but are we so caught up in the immediate change that we aren't seeing everything in perspective.
We view our current economical downfall as tremendous, our global warming as stupendous, and terrorism and religious fanaticism are creating fear, and violence.
But really? Have we gotten any closer to the end of the world. Wars have been going on non-stop since history recalls. And I think people have also been thinking that they were just as close to being on the brink of extinction as we see ourselves.
Do we think that our future will become better? or will it be worse? OR, does it need to get worse before it becomes better.
Are we still oppressing people, or have we made equality something we truly believe in, and stand up for?
Are we content? Or do we need more materials to make us feel good, and look good, and continue to feed our capitalist machine.
Is the price of a banana in the supermarket really paying the wages of the person that picked it off the tree, and the price that it took to transport here? Are people getting payed what the work for?
The future of our world depends on the actions of every individual. J.F.K. believed that, when he said, 'Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country'. But this pricipal applies to everything.
If everyone we're much less selfish, then, this world would be rid of so many of it's problems. If people weren't prideful then why would there be problems between countries, and families, and religious folks. Is pride our greatest sin?
And is it because of pride that we are just as close to the end of the world as we always were?

We are better off. We live longer; thus we have more time to think about how horrible we are.
I like the thought of us living longer.
But I don't think it should be thought of as a curse, yet, as something that can be used for good.
More time to make change in this world for the better. More time spent building up others with experience and knowledge. And given to restore brokenness - in whatever form that it comes in.
essentially i agree with what you are saying. we have more time to think how we can transform shit into sugar.
and it is happening. we are discovering new things everyday in the scientific world. i believe one day the scientific world will push Earthians together on global issues and common problems within our universe and beyond.
all we need is time and the will to progress.
