Please Use Your Skeleton Key

Being part of a revolutionary band of poets (in a small town), I realized recently that the primary problem impeding society from progress is willing ignorance. A few critics informed us they only care for some of the eight poetry band members and did not care to hear the rest of the band. Why? They did not agree with some members' viewpoints. That would first of all be the beauty of the nature of poetry. But besides that, this can be applied to events and people on a larger scale. People enjoy hearing words that produce a warm, fuzzy feeling within them. They do not care to deal with words that disturb or challenge their personal belief patterns. It is pertinent that we all learn to appreciate or at least listen to opinions different than our own as these inspire change. If nothing else, hearing different views provide a person with the knowledge and stances of the opposition, helping a person create a strategy for defense against others. It is that critical moment in time when humans actually realize that they possess a skeleton key within their hands at all times that serious change in the world can ensue. People must realize that this key exists and it can easily be placed into the ancient lock of ignorance to undo it. To unlock the lock, to revoke the ignorance, allows us to open a new door. This door allows us to see much more than we saw before unlocking ignorance. We may even learn of a new way of perceiving the world. To unlock ignorance, all we need is a skeleton key. We all possess a skeleton key. Let us not forget about it. Let us use it. Let us improve the world with it.
