He asked us if we had heard about the Titanistad?
I had no idea what he was talking about.
It is the Titanic and the Amistad ship put together into one humongous boat. All of humanity is actually on the boat!
You and I are on the deck. Many people are in the Cabin below us but the great majority is all the way at the bottom, in chains and actually rowing for our entire Titanistad to move forward. These people at the bottom who make our ship move are not from one single race, religion or country. They are from everywhere on our planet! Some work in sweatshops halfway around the world, but others live right down the street from where we live.
Obama is one of the new Captains or newfound leaders of the Titanistad and there is no doubt that he will help change some things. In a sense he will help some of the people below move up a few levels on our boat. Unfortunately just like the Titanic, the Titanistad is sinking and it is just a matter of time before our entire vessel will be below sea level.
There is the turning point when the first person or engineer realizes that the Titanistad is not sustainable anymore. Just like the Titanic we are going down so slowly that most of us do not even realize what is happening. Many are very happy to stay on the deck or in their cabin and enjoy the ride, rather then go on a lifeboat in the middle of the freezing waters of the Artic night. It is for this reason that the lifeboats were not full at first; it was so difficult to convince people…
But sure enough after a while it became clear that the ship was sinking. Panic, mayhem and confusion ensued. Many did not even have a chance to get to the top of the deck, yet alone get one of the few lifeboats that had been provided for by the ship engineers.
He then explained that it does not have to unfold like this however. People like you and I have created our lifeboats, and we are already able to see the ship sink from here. We cannot stay passively and wait for so many people to die hopelessly. It is our duty to create a bigger and better ship. One or many more that will be different, in the sense that everyone can be on a deck and not be enslaved like on the Titanistad. Culture, Traditions and the human mind will develop all sorts of other sustainable and empowering lifeboats for all people.
So many thoughts and questions were racing through my mind but I could not find the words to phrase all my ideas fast enough.
His final words were the following: the vision of a new world needs to be in your mind. You need to be willing to change or you will not be part of the creation of the new world.
Maybe the old man in that video was right after all: “ Our Divinity is in our ability to create.”
You are reading this so please take the time to tell me!
What will it be for you: Titanistad or any other lifeboat conceivable by your ingenuity? What type of boat do you see yourself on and with whom?

I am not sure what type of "iceberg" Titanistad hit? For now i would rather stay on the titanistad becuase i don't know wha the problem is so i how can i solve it?
Some pressing issues indeed, I have to say the analogy is a brilliant one. I feel there are many who have come to realize that the ship is sinking. Think of the people pushing for a greener world, the Al Gores of this world. I feel that as much as we see trouble in our world with global warming, poverty and the like we are hanging onto the prospect that we can still have a society that continues as it is but powered by green and more sustainable technology. This is wrong!
We must change the way we live now and go in a different direction. With the world structured as it is now, we will never get out of poverty or beat global warming and other issues. We must try to restructure the ship and change course in a massive show of co-operation and concern for others where we bring up those at the bottom and seek a world where we all get the essentials of life. The problem with today's world is the emphasis on the frivolous even though there are people who lack the essentials.
It is in our hands to change the world, all we nee is the will to do so!
