Environment-Is it a priority?

Tagged:

There has been many talks about having the environment preserved for a better future for animals and humans. Of course, Al Gore started the talks with the global warming talks. Many scientists have argued over this issue for a while now. Obviously, there are studies and facts that point out siginificant changes to our climate, but those facts arent proven to be based toward golbal warming. In the U.S., right now are bank crisis and global security are our main priorities considering all the bad stuff that has occured while Mr. Bush has been president. Environment once again is left from the priorities list. Our world cant function if we cant keep the environment clean. It was amazing, to see how hazy and dirty the skies looked in Beijing during the Olympics. The citizens of China and visitors around the world must have been terrified of the black and gary skies. I think thats embarrassing for China to not show any responbility for their environmental standards considering how many people they have there, that make money and do jobs there. Obviously, global issues are important for protection and security of nations, but individual citizens of the world should take the time to find ways to become GREEN or environmentaly friendly (Carbon Footprint). Many scientists and engineers are trying to use cleaner energy toward their work is a start, but the world has to join the effort also.

there shud be a stricter law on environmental standards in the world and people should stop being so greedy and protect the environment!

Only the wealthy care about the environment.

Well .... that may not entirely correct but only the wealthy can afford to do anything about it. Poor people and poor countries are so busy trying to round up their next meal or to fund the war against their equally poor neighbor that they don't hesitate to trash the environment in the process.

It is ironic that almost every tough environmental law has the effect of making us poorer. Soon those laws will be meaningless.

I am 50 years old and I have seen the environment get tremendously cleaner in my lifetime. The air is cleaner, the water is cleaner and the land is cleaner. We have done it by pursing policies that make us wealthier so that we can afford to care. The big polluters are the poor countries and the emerging economies.
