Today I went to a park,, and picked up trash. Your regular, cheetos bags and candy wrappers, all of the things you would normally see as trash. But then we went into a gully we found things i would have never guessed to be left behind, thrown into the world and consumed into the earth. This is what we found:
TV sets
DVD Player
4 Shopping carts
Chuckey Doll
Tires
Lawn Chairs
Sofas
Recliner Chairs
2 mattresses
Neon Sign
Microwave
over 50 beer bottles
Soda bottles
toy car
wallets with credit cards/licenses
toilet seats
the end of a crutch
the other half of a crutch
screen doors
light fixtures
a hookah (bong)
dildo
a jeep (the kind kids drive)
Tents
sleeping bag
jackets
cups (plastic/glass)
plastic crates
vacuum cleaner
and that's not even half of it
I knew that there was trash in the world, and that people polluted, but such big things?? I mean we were digging out trash today, and we couldn't even get all of it. How is it that people just leave such harmful things in the environment? Today was an eye opener to how much pollution and trash is really in the world. To think that we found so much in one area, its hard to imagine how much can be in the world. There must be a way to stop all the pollution that is going on. Its so simple to find a trash can, so why don't people use them? People should get out there and try to make the world cleaner. Pick up trash, and pull the weeds in your nearest park, with your help the world can change, a little at a time.
Wow,that is absolutely incredible that people would throw aways stuff mentioned above. A lot of those materials could have been recycled like the beer bottles, tires and soda cans.
They could have sent a lot of those materials to a Salvation Army or Goodwill.
I know it was so sad to see all the things that had been wasted. Its horrible all the things that our polluting our world. I agree, but some people don't care about keeping our ONE and only planet CLEAN.
That's great that your group was able to clean up, though!
I just hope no homeless people were using the tents and sleeping bags at night.

Yeah, no one could have been using the stuff we found, we were DIGGING them out of the ground, they had been left, and traveled down the creek. Everything was ruined by the rain, and nature itself. It was incredibly insane how much was wasted. So i'm sure the homeless have new stuff, unfortunately they left the old, to be found in a creek bed, ruined and polluting.
It felt really good to get as much done as we did. :D I mean we couldn't get it all, but to say all the things we got done is something i'm very proud of. I want to do more, and clean up, if I don't do it who will?
