Now that the election is over, most of the nation is celebrating and the other half is threatening to move to Canada (which in some ways is ironic, for Canada has implemented many of the programs Obama supports, so basically, refuge can't really be found there, but I digress). Anyways, everyone looks at this election as one of the most important in history, and as far as I can see, its historical, no doubt, but in 4 years the process starts all over again so life goes on.
Anyways, this sort of brings me to the point, that as American's we are in some senses, very ethnocentric. It makes sense, you care most about what is going to affect you, but I think it also blinds us to outside issues that are equally if not more important.
For example, you may have already heard about this, but they have built a "Large Hadron Collider" along the Russian border, which really could destroy this planet and everything and everyone on it, by sucking us into a blackhole. This scares me! This really makes me worry! And the thing that scares me the most is that I think relatively few people know about it, and even worse, those that do know about it, probably know relatively little, about how dangerous this experiment is.
Now I'm all for science, but some things really should not be dealt with. Now, unlocking the secrets of the big bang theory would be a monumental discovery, but is it really worth putting the lives of 6 billion people at risk??? Isn't there a point we reach when we can just say enough is enough, and leave some things a mystery?
Curiosity killed the cat after all.....
Just saying.

I think getting sucked into oblivion might be one of those quick and painless deaths that I would prefer over something slow and painful. And it's not like anyone will be left behind to regret the loss of civilization or something so... I guess I'm not too concerned.
But, until that happens, you may as well entertain yourself...

I really don't know anything about the experiement that you are referring to, however it's kind of hard to believe that humans could create something so powerful that it would be able to actually move our planet out of its orbit...
