Over the last few decades, the use of mobile phone as become a very essential factor of our daily lives. Been used by every one, young and old, rich and poor for different purposes; communication, business transaction etc.
There have been controversies on if cell phones should be allowed or better still discontiued in public places. Reports on the misuse of cell phones, and disturbances it causes in trains, offices, libraries, restaurants to mention but a few are becoming alarming.
There are instances where a mobile phone user picks/ makes a call and not considering the people around becomes a nuisance to others. Also it can have a bad effect on (1) patients that can not tolerate noisy environment (2) patients who use electronic devices for life -support, these second group of people get agitated as the waves going through the cell phon has the tendency to affect their device.
How then can the use of cell phones be banned in public places, or should such laws be passed at all considering people that basically carry out their business transactions through telephone conversations? what impact will this type of law have in a society called liberal such as the ones we have these days? if such law is passed, how can the government maintain the obedience of all citizens to such rule?

there should be no banned used of cell phones in public. they are convinent and necessary . Maybe in hospitals cell phones should be turned off.
The fuuny thing is some of this people using this electronic device for life purpose are all around us, in the busses and stores. snce we can not know, and yet have to make our usual call, how do we manage this situation. but, can such laws be passed at all or should the government sign such bill at all considering how essential cell phones are these days, i agree with you but i have a colleague here contradisting my opinion.
Yes, but i feel the government has no right to bann public use of cell phones. it is the same scenerio with public smoking. many people are allergic and asthmic to smoke, but there is no law that can prevent smokers from smoking in public places.
I feel that only way to stop public cell phone use is by making people become aware of the problems that comes along with it.
