FGM as we all know refers to female genital mutilation or cutting as may desire to call it. Several writers have tried to change the name from one thing to the other ranging from female circumcision , female mutilation, genital cutting, and so on in order to make it at least pleasant to the ears.
I am an African lady and a proud one at that but there are some “ customs” and traditions i still and will never associate with.
This act is the cutting or the removal of the external part of the female organ. The perpetrators of this act obviously have reasons ranging from cultural or marital purpose. Their main reason is that women that are circumcised are kept holy for their husband, or better still they have less or no sexual drive so they do not have any reason cheating on their husband, how ridiculous.
My point here is this, different organizations including governmental and non governmental organizations have been on this case over the years campaigning against it but it oonly seem to have reduced in the papers and media, does it mean our government are not really interested or should we say they are also in support if the act thus they donot want it to stop like a friend said?
Or do you think it can never be eradicated?
