In my high school, it was obvious which kids were popular and which kids were not. However, the disparity between the two groups was never so large that one was above talking to someone from the other group as there were truly more similarities than differences between the two. One might ask how it could be so clear which group was which. The answer is quite simple my friends. It lies within the very fabric of our society. It lies within our desire as a society to attain things. To have stuff and to have stuff with brand names on it is paramount to whether or not others perceive us as successful. This is what the media, magazines, and marketing campaigns tell us is cool. Those that have this stuff then, by default, are cool. The popular kids in high school had this stuff. Along with the football jerseys and cheer leading outfits that are generally specific to the highschool environment they had brand name stuff. Popularity by definition means to be regarded with favor, approval, or affection by other people. So the people without this stuff are not regarded as popular. Thus, they are not well liked? So then does this mean that I have to have name brand things in order for other people to like me? It certainly says a lot about our society if the only means we have by which to gauge the value of a human life is through the types of stuff they have.
Your Stuff is Too Exspensive
