Stop the Violence in communities all across the US

A recent report today indicated that more people are purchasing guns for their personal protection. One of the leading reasons for the increase in gun ownership is the state of our economy, which has created individual fear, and pushed people in a position to protect themselves and their property from intrusion. However, owning a personal firearm and/or knife does not guarantee that one can protect himself or herself from the dangers that lurk everywhere.

We will still have people that can gain access to guns, no matter whether they are registered or not. Gun violence seems to be the leading cause of violent crimes in this country. All you have to do is turn on the television, read a newspaper, watch pod casts, and see the building memorials in communities all across this country, to see that this type of crime changes lives forever.

Do not misunderstand me. I am not saying take away people's right to bear arms. What I am saying is that gun control and gun laws are necessary for the whole of the country. We have small children and teenagers accidentally shooting themselves or one another. We also have other people taking matters into their own hands and killing people because they have the power to do so, out of anger, frustration, or revenge. This cycle of crime changes the lives of all families involved.

Laws and access to guns have to be reasonable and applicable. The violence in our communities must end and we must be able to take back our communities, so that we can take back our lives.

Violence is touching the lives of people in every corner of America and the world. In some sense, we share the losses of these families, whether includes having the personal experience, knowing a neighbor or friend that this has happened to, discovering it happened in your community, or seeing it happen to a fellow human being in some town or city in this country.

Keep praying that God will keep the people in your circle of family, friends and neighbors safe. Pray for all of the families that have endured or must endure this fate. It is not one that anyone should wish on another person. This nation is one huge community of people.
