Quotes for Thought

Some recent lines floating around my school that I had afterthoughts about:

"Did you hear about Barack HUSSEIN Obama? How he came from Iraq as a former terrorist?"
-Oh, dear. The juniors in my class need to get their sources from somewhere other than 'Wikipedia'

"How do the literary devices in Oedipus clearly demonstrate the intentions of the gods and/or cosmic payback...."
-"Cosmic payback" is the last phrase I wanted to hear out of my AP English teacher, especially after BSing an entire in-class writing essay.

"You can't go home, but you can't stay here."
-Ah, the band teacher's famous saying to get us to leave his bandroom so he can go home and play with his daughter...

"And now, dear hearts, I will give you your dictation...I guess that makes me you 'dictator'!"
-Straight from the mouth of the best Latin teacher this school will every see.

"We need to beef up security at the border!"
"Yeah, keep out the damn Canadians!"
-Current events weren't that student's forte, although considering we live on the border with Canada, he made a little sense. Although we've never had an onslaught of Maple-Leafers, which I definitely wouldn't mind

"Oh, darn it! I can't believe I mispelled that!"
"What?"
"My name! Now she's going to call me 'Doin' for the rest of the year!"
-And yes, she did call him that for the entirety of the year

"Seniors, gather! My first two classes have lost to JUNIORS at softball this morning, if you lose this one--I think I'll cry."
-F.Y.I. -This man is big; like the men in stories who are ironically named 'tiny'

So even on my worst days, I'm reminded how much I'm really going to miss that school, those people, those classes. They are certainly irreplacable, and it's a little comforting and frightening to know that no matter who's reading this, you all know people just like this, and realize that they're everywhere. Take whatever comfort you can from that, most of them will make your days worth getting up for.
