Separation of church and state ... unless it fits our needs

I was brought up to believe that your job as a Christian is to witness. However, at no time did anyone tell me to force my beliefs on other people. Actually, I was told the opposite. This is why I must STRONGLY disagree with anyone who thinks gay marriage should be illegal because it violates their religion. True or untrue: everyone does not have the same beliefs as you? I'd have to say this is true. As for myself, I believe that gay marriage is a sin. But then again so is lying and cheating and gossip. If the Bible says that there is no sin greater than the other then why are we pressing for a law against gay marriage but not putting our children behind bars for lying about taking the cookie out of the cookie jar? If you study your bible, in God's eyes a sin is still a sin and it is up to Him (not you, mind you) to decide in the end which sin is greater and which sin may or may not have damned you to hell. We are here to WITNESS, not to force our beliefs on unsuspecting gays who cannot seem to help the way they feel. In the end you must remember that EVERYONE IS NOT A CHRISTIAN. What is wrong to you may be fine to someone else, and if it's not hurting anyone then what may I ask is the problem? By my book it is up to them to save their immortal souls. One can't be forced into compliance and expect it to hold any standing when you come before the eyes of our maker.

So yes, I say it is actually against our own religion to force our views upon other people and therefore we are committing a sin while trying to prevent one from happening.
