Here I sit. Black American male, 19 yrs old, in America, today. So.. what's the problem? Right? That's the question, right? What's the problem? So even though I'm not very into politics, I feel, and it's a general consensus, that EVERYONE needs to vote. Everyone. period. Yet my bone to pick is with presidents period. How they are closed in that mystical house of white and "grace" us with their presence when they please. I find politics in itself to be very blasé. I find it laughable that people think that a "leader" is trustworthy because in the time that they want to be your leader, they smile at you, kiss you baby, and shake your hand. What the hell man!?
Where did all the common sense in the world go to? Though I despise her politics and lack of political prowess, the only person that I can think of that wouldn't irritate me is Sarah Palin. Now wait.. before your try and through your laptop or screen or calmly scroll up and go to another blog. Here me out. Isn't it nice to hear someone talk to you like they are your equal? I think it is. Now.. all I'm saying is that if we could find someone that talks straight and has an IQ of a damn nuclear physicist then I'd vote that person for president. I'd be more "patriotic" and involved in the campaign. I'd go to the rallies and the whole nine yards. Truthfully I would. I propose a return to old politics. Where FDR would have the sit downs by the fire and tell the people the progress of things. The one of the only reasons that I like Obama is because he has his policies and plans that he intends to invoke accessible via internet. But as in that tutoring commercial (you know the one. the one where they go "ignoring it doesn't work." then the scene with the parents going 'It'll get better, you know it will.' Arguing doesn't work.) "saying it and doing it are two different things."
I want to have those days where the president s accessible. I promise.. there will be NO assassinations. I mean.. that was 40 yrs ago. If there isn't better technology or strategies to protect a president, then what's keeping him safe in the dang White House!? People need to feel that connection with the president. I speak from personal experience. When the president speaks, I can't help but think "This b&*%# is lyin' to my face..." I want to at least have the thought, "This b%^&*# is lyin' to my face... but he probably has a good reason and everything will turn out fine." Is that too much to ask for? I don't know, maybe I'm just frustrated with the way things are going right now. Maybe this is why I'm leaning more and more towards anarchy and incivility and acting on primal urges and obeying primal law. Only because the monotony of "Thank you for that question. Thank you for having me" is so DANG... BLAAAH! You know? So I have a bone to pick with the presidents of the future and when Bush's term is over, I'm going to find out where he lives and leave a flaming paper bag of dog poo on his door step.. Yess... That will be me. And you WILL hear about it on the news. >: D
But I can't be the only one that feels this way.. can I?

I agree that we need a president, and politicans in general, who treat people like they're real. They need to approach situations with the normal people in mind, and then use their best judgment to make the decision. They need to be down to earth and have an approachable personality. As you said, with FDR's fireside chats, he really reached the American people. He kept a fairly high approval rating, because even in time of crisis, he reassured the American public that everything was going to work out, and gave reasons why certain things had happened. I think we need someone who will do the same. A down to earth, real person, is exactly what we need as president. If old politics return, I believe our country would be in a much better place!
