Teen pregnancy seems to be spreading like wildfire!! From Jamie lynn to Solange Knowels it seems as though babies are the new handbag. However, is it neccesarily true that all young mothers will be a failure??? Ha I do not believe that one bit. Yes, all the celebrities can care for their children but so can the young poor teens mothers. As a black girl from the projects its normal for your best friends to become pregnant between the ages of 14-19. After becoming pregnant you become labeled as the girl bound for nothing. How disgraceful!!!
I have had a couple of friends who have been pregnant and are still making major moves. Yes they miss some school and social events but they are strong enough to be a mother, a student, and a damn good employee. My best friend became pregnant in our sophomore year of High school. At first I was angry and did not want to speak to her, but I became more understanding. I remember going to visit her during spring break and bonding with the baby (my godson). It was so much work, and I could not believe how much of a good mother she is. Now, my friend has her GED holds down a job and is planning to attend beauty school. Although she is a statistic, she is not the stereotypical "hoodrat" on welfare looking for a handout. I hate the fact that once one becomes a teen mother people look down on the. WHAT ABOUT THE DAMN TEEN FATHER!!!!!
Brothers take care of your kids!!!! I hate that these young girls are bustin their buts to be good mothers and students and the baby daddy is not doing anything. Honestly, the guy gets the slack, he barely gets looked down on. I mean its bad enough Black men in general do not take care of their kids now so why not break the cycle. It goes for all races, the majority of teen fathers dissappear when the pregnancy is announced. Its disgusting young buys out here having 2 kids at the age of 18. I mean I applaud the men who do take care of their kids, but I think the young mothers deserve a little more credit.

I was that teen mom. That girl who was told I would be nothing. I am now 24 I have 3 great kids. I got my GED through a home study program at home. I took my GED test which in preterm labor with my second daughter. I raised my oldest almost alone. My mom did help financially and so did my husband. Him and I moved in together and I had help. My oldest daughters father is about 8 grand in debt on just child support and I never plan on seeing it. He is on welfare with 2 other kids. Hasn't seen my daughter since she was 11 months old. I have to laugh because he had it made and he let it go. I have busted butt to get where I am and I will continue to until the day my children can do things on their own. I so applaud you for seeing not all of us teen moms became the woman watching the mailbox for their check every month.
