The future of US.

I am so proud of our country for embracing the prospect of a new leader who does not fit the ideal historical figures of our past. In other words, one that isn't white. Barack Obama, if and when elected, will make this country a better place. I, for one, do not want to see another four years of retrogression. Hopefully, his presidency will help bring an end to the ignorance that has been in this world for so long.

As a southern girl growing up, I could not believe the amount of hatred that is out there. Fortunately for me, I was able to rise above all of the negative upbringing and decide for myself who are good people and who are bad.

As for the abortion issues that were discussed in the last debate, I am firmly for ADOPTION. Only in rare cases should abortion be legal, ea Rape, Life or death, etc... Not for birth control purposes. God gave each of us a heartbeat for a reason....TO LIVE!!!

I believe it is true to be said…

I am a southern girl too, and i totally understand what type of hatred you are talking about. i used to live in a small town of only about a 1,000 people in louisiana. the white and the black community were completely separated. they lived in a different section, they went to different schools, and were not even allowed to join the little baseball leagues because the owner didn't like black people. my friends would hide and tell me not to talk to black kids ( they used the N word) and their parents were the exact same way.
most of the white folk in town were farm owners and the black folks were sharecroppers and helpers.

it was like i was living in pre- civil war era.

even if i do not agree with everything Obama says and wants. i believe that just his presence will bring a lot of change

Excuse the sarcastic tone, but I'm so happy that you make enough money to vote for Obama! Taxes are gonna shoot up, as they always do when Democrats are in control (in this presidency's case, in control of the senate and the house), and America will embrace many more Communistic ideas.
And you think that having a black man - excuse me, an African-American male - as president will break down racial barriers?! It will do anything but that!
I do agree with you on the abortion issue, though!
I'm not voting for Obama because I'm not going to help pay for people's health care, even people who don't work and don't want to work. I should pay for the things that I want, and no one else's needs. Period.

but i am not a rich person....before bush came into office - i had a savings account that actually had funds in it....since he has been in office, the economy has almost gone into a depression...so excuse my tone when i say - do we want a repeat of 1929 with mccain?

I will agree with you that Bush hasn't made all the right decisions, but one must remember: who controls the House and Senate? (hint: it's not the Republicans)

Taxes aren't going to shoot up in an Obama presidency. As he's repeated over and over again, he plans on raising taxes on those who makes over 250,000 dollars a year. If you make between that and 200,000 dollars, you're taxes won't move. If you make under 200,000 you're taxes will drop. No, Barack is not going to raise taxes on those who make 42,000 dollars a year. And it's not like this tax plan can't be trusted, because it wasn't just made by him. Obama has a long line of governmental associates and advisers who he looks to in making good decisions. It's better than John McCain cutting taxes for the wealthiest corporations who are ruining our country by shipping jobs overseas, and putting their money elsewhere than home. The wealth isn't going to trickle down, it's trickling to other countries.

Why do you think Obama being in office won't break down barriers? You say that will it'll do anything but that, which I take as it'll make racial tension worse? I don't understand the logic of a black man being president not, over time, making racial tensions better. That's probably the most cynical thing I've ever heard anyone say.

And so you know, those who have healthcare ARE PAYING FOR OTHER PEOPLE'S HEALTHCARE NOW. The uninsured add about 900 dollars a year to people's premiums, and it's estimated in 2010 that they'll cost 1,500 dollars. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8144237/ So we have to do something. I don't disagree with the idea that people can keep their premiums, or get government provided healthcare. Your employer either provides you with healthcare, or they chip in to a pot. Why not? Would you rather be uninsured? And it will help lower everyone's premium costs, which is a terrible thing, ya know. You seem very focused on "me" opposed to community. I see America as a place where your neighbor helps you when you're struggling.

I do agree that maybe I should change my view to a more community-based one, but if someone isn't willing to work, why the heck should I be the one paying for them to see a doctor?! Of course, there are good people that I know that just don't make enough money, and that's where a welfare check comes in handy, but I should decide what happens to the money that I made.

Oh dear. Another misinformed person believing that this election is about voting for either socialism (leading to communism) or conservatism (Praise Be To God). As if this country could EVER go Socialist.

I hope the Republican party wins. I hope the Republican party wins for the next THREE elections. And I'll just bet that when this country goes even further south, Republicans, known for their extreme lack of accountability, will STILL claim it was all the fault of Clinton and a Democratic Congress.

If they win the next three elections, do you think we'd still have stable enough government in order for them to be in power? Haha. I hope you hope otherwise.
