3RD PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE
This was McCain's best debate of the three. Pundits call his tone spirited, I call it anxious. He was battle-ready even as his numbers dwindle in the polls. This debate made it very apparent why so many in Congress have such great respect for this man, even besides the 5.5 years he spent being tortured at the Hanoi Hilton. He began the debate with voluminous energy and admirable fire. I liked that! However it was sad watching him reach for consolation from Obama on the harsh comparisons made by Congressman John Lewis to George Wallace, a horrific white supremacist of the Civil Rights movement. I believe, as Obama's campaign stated, that that comparison was far fetched. Besides, Palin seems much more a Wallace type then McCain. :)
It was pretty apparent that Obama came battle-ready as well though at times seemed a little timid to me. (I mean come on, how are you going to miss an opportunity to criticize Palin at least once, Americans are curious to know what Obama thinks of her.) However, his consistant demenor is calm, cool, collected and far more diplomatic than McCain. (I got to admit that next to McCain's overt spiciness tonight, Obama came off a little vanilla.) McCain hit the nail on the head calling Obama eloquant. Obama = Eloquence. He chooses is words well, but then again he has too, and if elected he will have to for the rest of his life. It's pretty common knowledge when you are breaking down barriers and you are the "firsts" and "onlys" to do something, people are going to be looking at you to mess up, so you got to come 150% when your counterparts have to only come half that, ahhhhh the good ol' double standard. If Obama's tone more resembled that of McCain's he would get more accusations of that stereotypic, radical, angry, rage-filled Black man. (Of course, I will be much more disappointed if i find out one day that in fact Obama has no Black Rage at all, that would really be saddening). Let's not act like we dont have anyting to be angry about, even to this day.
En mon avis, Obama wins on healthcare. McCain! $5,000 one time? That's not going to last very long. And how much of an expense is it going to be to travel to different states for healthcare? However, on education, I think have charter schools is excellent but why cant all states have vouchers as well? I think the candidates need to put their education plans together in order for it to be sufficient to the American public.
Immediate polls after the debate showed sweepingly that Obama won this third and final debate, but with his extensive lead and the doubt that this debate could have possibly been any sort of game-changer, does it really matter???
