This blog is totally speculative- a "what if" blog.
The left wing nonprofit organization ACORN has been discovered filing fraudulent voter registrations in several states, which is not speculative- that's true. They've also done it in the past- again, that's a confirmed fact. ACORN has also endorsed Barack Obama for president- that's also factual.
I'm just going to connect some dots here and make a wild speculation- though it could very well turn out to be true. If ACORN has filed fraudulent voter registrations in the past, who's to say that they didn't do it during the primaries? I mean, they were only just discovered now, so it's totally possible that we missed them back during primary season. This raises a disturbing possibility for Senator Obama- could fake ACORN voter registrations have affected the primary election? Did he then unfairly win (i.e. steal) the election, George W. Bush style?
What if? What if this was true? The investigation into ACORN's activities will reveal the truth eventually, and what if it turns out that Obama won the primary against Hillary Clinton thanks to voter fraud?
Let's look at the consequences. Firstly, it wouldn't technically be Obama's fault- it's unlikely he told ACORN (at least, I hope he didn't tell them) to fabricate voter registration forms for dead people or Mickey Mouse (a few of ACORN's tactics). But Obama has worked for ACORN in the past, and such a revelation would cast a black shadow of suspicion over his entire campaign. Hillary might just come back from the political dead, demanding vengeance, and even if she doesn't return, her supporters will be enraged. With the election approaching so quickly, Democrats would not be able to contain the damage or find a new candidate- not even Hillary. We'd have another election fiasco, just like Bush caused in 2000, but this time it will be the Republicans claiming election theft. And people will remember how the last "stolen" election ended up- with the least popular president in decades. Conservatives and surely even liberals will balk- they will abandon Obama.
In short, Obama would lose the election horrifically.
So, what's the point? Why would I make such grave speculations? Well, to be honest, even though I don't support Obama, I'd be almost sad if all this happened (operative word: almost). It would just go to show that politics, and even the most uplifting and popular candidates, are corrupt. Even as a conservative, I admit Obama seems like a genuine, likable, upstanding person, and if ACORN voter fraud caused him to lose the election, I would come away thinking that a “good” politician was mythical. There is no such thing as "hope" or "change" in politics- there are no real Barack Obamas, just Barack W. Obamas.
I’m probably wrong; this situation is extremely unlikely- but not impossible. We’ll have to wait and see- or, in Obama’s case, wait and desperately pray.
In this economy, do you doubt that people would pad their stats like that? It was purely a case of people wanting to get more money, and thinking nothing would ever come of it. There's also the punk-ass kid factor--people found out that ACORN had to accept every registration that was given them, so some dude filled out seventy something registrations to be a pain in the ass.

That's besides the point- I don't think there is a link between ACORN employees' frauds and Obama's campaign. But the fact that a direct link doesn't exist just wouldn't matter if the events in this speculation came to pass- Obama would be cooked. I suppose a secondary point of me writing this blog is to point out that the ACORN situation has the potential to become far worse for Obama than he or his surrogates are willing to admit- it could flip the election upside down.
You make the assumption that registration fraud equals voter fraud. If people never show up to vote under the fraudlent registration names, voter fraud never happened.
Just to correct ediblewoman, the ACORN people were paid per hour, not per registration. One of their head guys did a press conference on C-SPAN that I watched and he explained how ACORN works. Their employees have to keep submitting new registrations to prove that they're working. So if someone wanted to get paid, but not do work, they could just make up enough fake ones to appear busy. They look over all the new registrations and flag all the suspicious ones, which was how people found out about the obviously made-up ones in the first place. But they still have to submit all the registrations, whether they know they're fake or not, just to be overly cautious. That's the law. In case there really is another Tom Brady that lives in Ohio and has the info they provided.
I really don't appreciate the charges you're proposing because they're totally baseless. It's fine to play the hypothetical game, but it doesn't fit at all with the facts.

Don't worry- I don't think any of this will actually happen, and I repeatedly stated that this blog was speculative and hypothetical (though my facts are accurate- I even linked news sources). I was just struck by what a true disaster the situation could be, and I found it ironic that it was comparable to Bush's situation in 2000 (since Obama flaunts how far on the political spectrum he is from Bush). It was an irony I was not willing to pass up writing about.
