What it feels like...to be Heartbroken

I am a member of the varsity soccer team for my highschool. I was starting forward and well on my way to the perfect season when tradgedy hit. I was playing in a game and i dislocated my kneecap, and in the process of doing so, chipped five fragments of bone off. My season looked like it would be over and when the doctor said i would need surgery, I almost broke down. After my surgery the doctor gave me some good news, that I would be back to being able to play in just a few weeks. I attended all of the games in the process of my knee healing and we were on a four game winning streak....until tonight. Tonight we won 73 of the 80 minutes of our game. In those final seven minutes we lost our game, our shot at winning league, and our chances of making it into playoffs. I had to sit on the sidelines tonight with a sense of hopelessness as i watching our small lead dissappear and then our dreams shattered as the other team scored the final goal. I am a senior in highschool, and am deeply in love with the game of soccer, but tonight my dreams of coming back to play for the end of the season have been changed. I will now play souly for THE LOVE OF THE GAME. I am not playing to win...I am playing because its what I LOVE to do.

I understand to a certain extent. I am in the marching band at my school. It was the practice before a big area competition I came around this set and next thing I know a flagpole is in my stomach , clarinet is on the ground and tears are coming down my face. I didn't perform in that competition but I went and supported my band , who won 1st place in all categories. I love music , I love playing for an audience whether they understand our style or not. I am a performer and will always be , The number of trophies and accolades we recieve does not matter.

It's not about winning, and it's not about how you play the game. It's about how much you love the game!
