Purpose of Education

On the great continent that bore life on earth, where majestic colored mountain tops reach toward heaven and graceful gazelles race through lush high grassed plains; in the still dark starry night, a midst the soft peaceful chirping of crickets, you may hear the mighty lion roar. There breathes Africa. It is the cradle of civilization.
On this turbulent continent you will also hear the rising sound, of blood curdling screams, as villages are burned to the ground, and men and little boys are brutally murdered, while their wives and mothers watch helplessly in horror. Blood baths continue, as innocent women, little girls and even female infants are raped continuously by grown African men, as a torturous, evil technique of war. In Africa there lies a hell on earth. It is genocide. It is the greatest crime against humanity and must not be ignored by civilized society.
I am a continuing education student at Saint Xavier University in Chicago, striving to complete a B.A. in International Studies, so as to continue in a Graduate program in Paris, offering a Master Degree recognized in America and Europe, in International Affairs, Conflict Resolution and Civil Society Building. Yet, financial challenges make it increasingly difficult to continue my education. Because I am over the age of thirty and do not have dependents under the age of eighteen, I am often disqualified as a candidate for loans and scholarships. I earn barely enough to get by, yet to much to receive government grants and loans. I am therefore dependent upon the few random scholarships available.
Although it is difficult to balance a full academic load and work full time, I have achieved academic honors. I am not a gifted student but a woman who is dedicated to make the world a more peaceful residence.
Of the many factors which have influenced my determination to continue my educational, crimes against humanity is the greatest. We must strive not only to abolish grotesque violence against mankind, but further prevent such atrocities in future generations, through the teachings of ethics, sensitivity, equality, and diplomacy to all people under all circumstances.
I aspire to teach on the University level as well as work with government and non government agencies, in the advising of international conflict resolution and the building of a path, leading from tyranny to democracy. I am currently founding a student humanitarian organization and am involved in several other programs which aid in enriching the lives of disadvantaged individuals and igniting the spread of goodness and communal productivity.
Any comments or sugestions are greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
jeanniem3

Hey, just thought this was interesting. In case you don't know fastweb.com is a great place to find scholarships. They also have guides to financial aid, and all kinds of pertinent information to students. I was just there, and they posted a page about how the next elected president might affect students seeking financial aid.

Check it out:
