If I were President

It is so easy to say “If I was President I would….” What would be people really do if they were president? I can not speak on behalf of my neighbor or my friend but I can speak for myself when I say I would listen. I would listen to the people and to the nation. I would seek out and try to understand their concerns. I would listen to my peers in the senate and House of Representatives, I would listen to my joint chiefs of staff and I would listen to the woman on the side of the street with two babies and no shelter to turn to. I would listen to the union worker who is worried about supporting his family.

I like to talk politics with anyone who will engage in such a daring conversation with me. In my many random conversations with strangers on bar stools, in coffee shops and on park benches I have taken something from each person I look in the eyes. One man was so passionate about his political views it motivated me. At the time I did not side with him or his party but I never let him know. His passion for his party showed his passion for his country and what he wanted to see happen in the next four years. This American made me proud that day to live in this country. Another woman was so set on her ways with her political party that I came to realize that some people only vote for what is going to better their personal situation and not what will help the person sitting next to them.

She was for Barack Obama because he was for women’s rights and for the unions. I asked her if she ever took in to account the military and how would they benefit from having Obama as President. She couldn’t really answer that question because it was no concern of hers. I asked her what woman doesn’t have rights. We have a woman running as a VP and had another woman fight for a political party billet. In this ever evolving society it is true that a woman is as equal as a man.

This election is not only historic because we are voting in either a black man or a woman VP, but because we are choosing what is more important to the American people experience or education?

I support the Bush Administration 100%. The tough economic times has put a lot of pressure on President Bush and thats not the only thing on his plate. He has to worry about Foreign Policy, Environmental Issues, the war in Iraq and Afganistan, and the end of his term is coming up so he has to worry about what the new president is going to do the work he has already done.
If I were president I would not count on myself to make any decisions alone. I would go through my advisors and get opinions and reasons about why we should make that decision. I honestly don't think I could handle being president. My hair would turn gray 500 times faster than the average person. If I were president I would help to turn our debt around which would mean cutting funds from less important places. I believe that everything the government supports is important but some can be put on hold until we are in less debt.
I believe that we should support our president no matter who he is because I know that you could not do it at least not at this time. I don't think anybody can but we have to have somebody to lead us in the same direction

Being President is not an easy job and for the salary???? But some brave American that is willing to try will step up to the plate and give their all. I will support any President that is in office because America as a majority decided together that that is who we wanted to represent us. I think that if you listen to what the people have to say it shouldn't be too hard. Just not enough personal time in the job!
