The Bradley Effect

The media is publishing a lot of stories on the effect race will have on this years presidential race. Many of us new voters, people between the ages of 18 and 22 wont be effected because we grew up in post-civil rights America. Blacks and whites play together in suburban streets. Mixing and meshing cultures and ideas. White kids know the words of rap songs, black kids listen to Led Zeppelin religously. It's all good in the hood, its all love whether your black white, Asian or Hispanic.
The way the media makes the race an issue is the only reason why it will be. Unfortunately they don't foresee the effects of pushing crazy ideas in the ears of the people. I don't want to sound pompus but if you don't know by now, OBAMA is the best candidate. Unless you're willing to believe the lies that he's and "Arab" that he's a "Muslim" that he's a "Domestic Terrorist." And so what if he was? He could be all those things, save the terrorst part, and he's still more fit to lead than Mccain. Granted I respect McCain, I'd have picked him over Bush and Gore in 2000 in a mock election, but hes clearly lost his marbles since then. In an effort to seem like a reformer he's flip-flopped on standard issues, he lost his zeal of a solid Commander in Chief and he's no longer the John Mccain we saw then. It's not because Mccain is an old guy, but I'd probably vote for him if he wasn't out of touch with our society. Just as so, Americans who decided not to vote for Obama because of his color have probably already made that decision.
It is true, some people will change their minds just as they decide to cast their vote, but inbetween voters unsure of who to vote for have ONE MORE idea in their head about how the media PROJECTS HOW PEOPLE WILL VOTE. This is how the media works, infusing their propaganda in the minds of easily influence people. I'm peeved that the media, CNN especially, would spend hours debating whether or not this is an issue. Granted its the information age and we all devour it gluttonously, but please, stop selling one more reason not to vote for the best guy. Insted, tell us where our tax payer's dollars are going. Tell us where Osama Bin Laden is, if the government can spend billions of dollars spying on its millions of citizens, wheres the money being spent on catching ONE man who dared to attack our people. I'm sure one of those Google Map satellites can find him, if not of the CIA's. It's 2008 and we're havn't trouble finding an Anti-American Terrorist. Use watch dogs, sniff out his old cave or something. I'd love it if CNN did a follow up on this AIG scam, it seems only right to put their CEO's on the spot. Instead, I see a study on "subconsious racism" within people's brains. When will CNN send reporters to the Congo, maybe they'd find Bin Laden there, cozying up with most evil men in the world. In the meantime, they can inform the world of the every day problems other people face. Make's having a low-wage job and social security benefits seem luxurious dont it? The distilled information that trickles down through media outlets is just the same as this fictitious notion the right wing has about how wealth is supposed to trickle down. We only get a very small percentage of it. Hence why American intelligence is the laughing stock of the world. Its all the media's fault. More money is spent broadcasting commercials through the airwaves, if I see another AARP commercial I'll puke, Boon Pickens and all of them have the money to spend telling us what they think. We'd benefit greatly if they could fund more independent reporters, more ''intellectual mavricks'' more money to put people through schools so they and we can stop this ignorance from prevailing. Watching tv we learn more from watching Family Guy or the Simpsons than we do watching CNN or (god forbid) FoxNews. Sorry Rupery, good cartoons, but poor news.
In conclusion, this election isn't just about the economy, the wars around the world, or "we made a mistake the last two times, lets try to pick a qualified candidate this time." It isn't just about who is fit, physically, mentally and emotionally, to fix this country. This isn't a race about race or age or lipstick or sex appeal. This is an election that will change the course of history forever. Imagine the future, if people of all color, creeds and religons can look forward to a chance of being President of the United States. Its one of our constitutional privelages. It's time we look to our decisions in choosing our leader, a symbol not just for our country but for the civilized and even uncivilized world to look up too. This is a chance for people who claim to want change, to stand up, vote and make it happen. There is motto to inspire all of us "Make it Happen." This is a message to all of us, the twenty-something-year-olds who are about to take over this country. Yes mom and dad, gramma and grandpa, aunt and uncle we are up to the challange, we're about to "Make it Happen."
