The United States Economy is going down the drain and fast! Yes, guys I realize this might be an old topic by now but I just wanted to share some of my ideas especially with the governments pass of the $700 billion USD bailout plan last week.
Lots of people during the past two weeks that many of our most prestigious financial institutions collapsed were looking for someone to blame. They were wondering why this was happening and what is going to be done. Then the Bailout plan came along. And people began blaming the companies like Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Merrill Lynch, Wachovia, and Washington Mutual for what happened. They said that these companies are responsible for the financial crisis and any company that followed lending practices like theirs is equally responsible. And that it was these companies fault that they couldn't pay their mortgages. And then the same people were angry that the bailout got passed because they thought the government should be bailing them out instead of these companies.
Well, I have news for everyone. The only people to blame for the crisis that we are now in are those people pointing fingers now. If they had just paid their mortgages and paid off their houses and not gotten into homes they couldn't afford int he first place then we would all be fine right now. But now we must address the counter-argument that these people were 'tricked'. No they weren't! They were presented with a contract just like everyone else that purchases a home that stated everything regarding payments and the such and if they had any questions they could have asked their loaner who is required by law to answer their questions. The plain simple truth of the matter is that these people got into homes they couldn't afford knowing that they couldn't afford them, with the intention of living there for a predetermined amount of time (2-3 years) and then getting out before their adjustable-rate mortgages kicked in. But then the housing market took a turn for the worst because of all the other people that were doing this same thing and these people got caught in homes they couldn't afford and they couldn't get out of. So they had to foreclose or declare bankruptcy and deepen the housing crisis. And the reason they were angry the bailout didn't go to them is because they are lazy and looked to the bailout as justification. They looked at it with the mentality that they didn't need to worry about their mortgages anymore because the government would just pay them. Well, that's not what happened so now these people are blaming the companies saying, "They tricked us!" When they really should be pointing their fingers at themselves saying, "I knew I couldn't afford it but I did it anyway!"
Who do you blame for the economy?
