Not Since the Great Depression

I woke up this morning and groggily stumbled out of bed. However, I received a rude awakening when I saw the morning paper. Front page: "Not since the Great Depression...." "Well, I guess this is the end" I thought. I knew our country was in a downward spiral and that headline just asserted my beliefs. That was, until I actually read the article. You see, the G-7 (the group of the 7 most-industrialized countries in the UN) issued a 5-point economic plan meant to drag the economy back to where it should be. The U.S. government plans on buying ownership stakes in banks, something it has not done since the Great Depression. Will this work? I believe so. I believe that this is the first positive move our govenment has made in a very long time. You see, when the U.S. buys those stakes, it is putting necessary money in a place that no one else wants to, or has the means to. This, hopefully, will bring our economy up. So, a step in the right direction for the Bush administration....sounds hard to believe, sounds to good to be true. But, there is a first time for everything right? We shall see....
